I did it too: Wednesday through Monday, as we always do when we have a table. Although we're probably going to have a booth next year (unless AA improves). We're going to be creating a bunch of new stuff to sell next year, so hopefully all the expenses will be covered. Maybe Dark Horse will cover it, as they've done the past few years... Speaking of Hiltons -- did you guys see that big new structure being erected on the Hall-H side of the CC? That's going to be a brand new Hilton!!! But it is scheduled to not open until November of 08, so it's still out for next year. However in 09 that is going to be PRIME stomping grounds... That will open up several hundred badly-needed convenient rooms.

Kansas City Barbecue!!!!!! A lifesaver for many. I remember in the 80s when it was just there in the middle of a dirt parking lot by the train tracks. How things have changed!

Trivia for all: When the night-time freight-train comes blasting its incredibly LOUD horn, rolling slowly right behind the KCB, the bar does shots of Night Train for 25c while the train is moving past. It's a long-time tradition. But you have to be in the bar, not outside or in the restaurant part. And you have to like Night Train...

Ok, this is sort of collecting/Comic Con, but I'm putting it here. I preordered a few months ago the Cody GG Mini Bust from a guy who would be going to Comic Con. I paid three times retail so I wouldn't have to stand in any lines and deal with the hassle. He notified me that he had the item and that we could meet up today to hand it over. We both live in Sherman Oaks so it works out great. I asked him though how was he able to get the exclusive. He said that it was a very hard process that involved getting up early and standing in lines all day. Now here is my thought, I suppose people have different reasons for going to conventions. Mine is to have a good time, see people I know, and sit at panels learning all the neat stuff. His is to make money. He told me that he was able to get eight of the Codys. That is crazy impossible I would think but he said he knew all the secret lines and what to say and do to get the exclusive. He said that doing this covered his hotel and expenses in San Diego. To me that's more work than anything. He misses all the fun of the convention worring about getting the items and wastes his time standing in lines. All this to break even on the hotel. Dude? Why bother? But I won't complain because if it weren't for him doing it I would have to and I don't want that for sure. So I'll enjoy the con the way I want to and he can do the same. I just don't get it.

Don't be so sure 'he's' the one standing in the lines and missing out, necessarily -- he probably subcontracts to friends. I doubt he'd be necessarily open and honest about his trade secrets, but nor would I. To each his own -- if that's what he wants to do, and you get what you want, well, win-win for everyone, I say. He is a free-thinking adult and can change his mind and not do pick-ups anytime he wants to.

I've also done this at other collectibles events -- literally paid someone to stand in line and do all the work, including a nice extra fee for their trouble, so I didn't have to. They were glad to make the profit, and I was glad to not have to stand in line. We've even done repeat business, and return the favor if we're able to get something that the other person is really interested in but we're not. Free trade flow!

Bottom line: In collecting, everyone, and everything, has a price. You just have to find the right one.

Oh yeah it is win win for sure, and I'm glad he did it because I sure don't want to but still, what a hassle for him.

    Ok, Kit
Here it is. First off, you and your friends look very enthusiastic about costuming and the saber duels. That's all good and stuff and I'm sure you are all nice people. You then may be wondering why all the hostility? Well, here it is. The people here who post don't know you. When meeting new people, it is best to introduce yourself slowly. Have people know you on a personal level. Come to an event and talk to people face to face. I'm afraid that just by posting your pictures on two threads is a bit creepy. First off we don't know you so why would we care to look at them. I see people in good costumes all with FX sabers but I have no personal attachment to any of them. It looks like you had a great time but why do I care? Again I don't know any of you. Also, don't advertise to us. It makes you look like you don't care about the people here, and that you just want to sell them things.

So if you are here to meet new people I would suggest a different approach. If you are here to just sell your products then I would move on we won't be interested.

    Thanks

    My name is Darth-Bubba.

I will be moving to Los Angeles from Portland, OR. I am 36. I drink scotch and watch baseball.

Once I get to know you all better, I will be selling a limited edition video, of an intoxicated D-B wielding a large sword, based on King David, and the Lions of Judah, while wearing a kilt, after drinking scotch and cognac. (and bare chested)

This video was filmed by the once LAFF patriarch, JiltedToo. I will be selling this video for $0.25 (25 cents) or 300 Pesos.

Thank you. Look forward to meeting you all.

specifically, it was Aultmore cask strength, 15 year,58.3% proof.
Remy Martin, XO, preceeded by a few brewskis.

Kilt Tartan was... Keith. (or Austin, specifcally Marshall)

On the other hand, I did like the picture of the two Jedi lighting their death sticks with lightsaber blades, mostly because I've joked about this with many friends in the past.

Also, I like the tie belt instead of the obiquious brown or black leather belt modeled after ObiWan's and Maul's in Episode I and Annakin's in Episode III.

Nice to meet you Darth Bubba.

Would you please explain the kilt thing to me? I saw a lot of them at C-IV and the Comic Con.

Please delete all my LAFF posts.
    I take this as disrespect.
Yeah I posted this in the other comi con thread,so what.
hang me from across why don`t you jeez.
I thought peeps would like to see Star wars comi con pics ,since there was not too many star wars costumers there.

I have got more then a cold welcome from the La fan force board.
Some of you peeps really need to chill.
I didn`t know there was a unspoken law about sharing your event pics.

I guess I will just stick to posting in the costume and fan fim boars if I am looked down on so much by my La counterparts..:(
