San Diego, CA Comic-Con 2005 General Info thread

As I recall from years past, the bulk of the Comic-Con schedules, news, and updates occur within the two weeks prior to the show. Because it grows every year in size and diversity, I'm sure it's a major undertaking to organize the whole thing down to the last detail, especially when it comes to special guests. So posting information as late as possible means that it's more reliable and less subject to change. While this makes it difficult to plan ahead, you just have to be ready to pounce on the information when it's published in order to finalize your plans, which I'm sure will be soon.

 

Just looked at the updates on the comic con website which are showing some of the toy companies that are going to be there and I tell you what some of the toy exclusives that there are look well cool had a look at that luke skywalker bust but I dont think I will get that and. They do not seem to be selling very fast considering it is an exclusive with a limited run.

 

I want that Bloody Marv figure from NECA.

Plus the Dark Phoenix HeroClix is awesome!

Also, the exclusives section is obviously not complete since they don't list the Leia Hologram figure.

 

Ohhh you have to get your pikachu pokemon card from the nintendo booth a perfect haven for scalpers to sell on ebay for a few $100, to be honest with you seeing all these toys would to me be an honour for me considering we are not that mad on toys over here I seem to think shops are too scared to get certain things in as they worry they will not sell.

edit: I suppose with the luke bust figure I suppose there is going to be a limited run of various characters cause there could be the worry that they may look identical as the unleashed line or even kotobukiya and I know this will cause alot of arguments

I just hope they mark each lanyard with a pen or something at the nintendo booth like they did at the hasbro booth whilst giving out them attacktix figures cause people will just be grabbing hold of 2 or 3.

I have never heard of pirates of the crimson coast before, but james you must get your pikachu card from nintendo

Pirates of the Crimson Coast is the coolest game to come in the size of a card pack -- instead of cards, it comes with a few punch-out pieces of plastic that you put together to make pirate ships to play a game. each pack comes with 2 ships, which you can use to build fleets and collect all the gold and sink your opponent. plus it comes with a tiny tiny die. little ships that you can put together... fun pirate ship action!

what I was trying to say is you wouldnt want to marry jean grey cause it says next to her figure on the comic con website if she has a bad day she turns into the dark phoenix that would be enough to put me off

And for the pokemon card I hope you go to the nintendo booth and pick up your exclusive pikachu card

I may get one of those pirate games then they sound cool I will give you a game of it if we have time

RE: The Fan Club Breakfast - How hard is it to find parking at that time? Are spaces in the convention center parking lot usually still available at this time?

Last time I attended the Fan Club Breakfast, I was able to park in the underground Convention Center lot. Just be sure to get there by 7AM.

 

Is anyone going to Comic-Con or the Fan Club Breakfast in costume?

 

We going to comicon is costume...I'm no sure about the breakfast.

I dont think I will go to the breakfast in trooper armour will be abit hard to sit down.

you see look we can do comic con it is at the end of this month in london but it's only a baby one cause I am coming over I cannot get to this one but I would have loved to go and take my oliver stone dvd of the doors and get val kilmer to sign it cause he was just the best in that film.

 

The latest Toyfare magazine has a small listing of the exclusives of what is going to be offered at the various conventions this year. The nice thing about is, I already have the Dark Phoenix heroclix(smalled than I thought it would be), the City of Heroes Limited edition Statesman clix(didnt know about this heroclix game) and a Mega pack of Pirates of the Crimson Coast(Looks really cool!). I have details on what that pack contains if anyone is interested.

I saw Peter Mayhew on Thursday, his dressing room was next to ours, and we escorted him back to his hotel after the after-party. He and Angie told us they would definitely see us at Comic Con! Lets invite them for dinner with the club if they are in town on Wednesday.

 

Can't wait to hang with you again Ben!! This time we can go to In and Out Burger!

In and out well what is the service that fast that they stand there at the counter with a crate full of food so when you walk up you say "I will take that" then you just pay for it.

edit: I must say sounds good to me cause it is food but I need to have a steak from somewhere so big that you cannot stick anything on the plate.

 

Ah. Finally realized there was a Con thread LOL. Anyone have a small Jedi costume for sale or know where I can get one? I'm finally giving in to my inner Cosplayer...
Looking forward to perhaps meeting some of you. Is there anywhere special you meet or something you guys do? I'll be there Sat/Sun, so I'd like to know ^_^
