Kathy, put Dale and I down for the room for now. I'm going to call a friend of mine who works for a hotel in Mission Valley, and see if there's something available there.

Ack - hey Matt & Kevin. I just saw your message. I have a bit of a problem now. My friends from Seattle who I thought didn't want to stay with me (I think they were planning their own little group of 4) didn't get a room this morning. So they e-mailed me this morning asking if they would mind me splitting the room 5 ways. I'm not sure what to do now... I thought they had things squared away and I was on my own.

I think you guys should think about working on rooms for the group. Things seemed to sell out in record speed this year. Many people who never have problems getting rooms through Travel Planners are PISSED because things are gone. They are not even putting people on stand by lists right now - those are filled up too (I've never had that happen).

It looks like Hawthorne suites still has some rooms - not that they are a huge bargain though.

I'm leaving town tomorrow morning. I hate to leave people hanging, but I don't know that I will know what is going on with my room until I get back from LA next week.

    - Kathy

Maybe we should all look for rooms, book some, and see what everyone has. Whoever's got the best one distance and price-wise we'll take, and we can just cancel the others. Thoughts?

    Happy Birthday, Chanel! @};-

i'm getting that cody for sure! that hologram accessory sealed the deal. looks like it will be hard to get especially since it's a SDCC exclusive. had anyone found any hotels that are still available close to the convention center? i still dont have a room.

We need commitments as soon as possible. Of course, we could always book a third room.

I have friend who works for a hotel in San Diego. He can get us a room (two beds) at the Doubletree Club in Mission Valley (5.6 miles away) for $129 a night, which is 1/2 off the regular room rate!

    http://www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=SANCLDT

We could use this as maybe a backup plan (?)

I'm going to Celebration IV in May. Still waiting for my badge.

I'm going to Comic-Con in July. This will be my third year in a row.

Yeah, it seemed a lot of the hotels in San Diego got booked a lot sooner this time around. I'm paying a lot more for a room. But, at least I got one close to the convention center. Comic-Con is so big and so much fun that I can't pass it up.

    STAR WARS SYMPHONY DURING COMIC-CON:

    "The Symphony Strikes Back
Celebrating 30 years of Star Wars, this concert features all your favorites from John Williams' Oscar-winning Star Wars scores in a special stadium seating configuration."

    http://www.sandiegosymphony.org/summerpops/event.php?id=5

Yes. It will be take place on July 26th @ 7:30pm in the same area as last year's concert...

I know, nothing beats seeing Maestro Williams at the Hollywood Bowl like I've had before, but I'm sure this will be pretty close for now... :D

Although it's booked for the ComicCon dates, I think I'll check this out while I'm down there (if I have time) as a possibility to stay for next year:

    http://www.500westhotel.com/index.html

It's kind of like a high-price European hostel, with lots of nice accomodations, is walking distance from the convention center, and each room is under $89! Their weekly rate allows you to stay in a separate floor with more accomodations. Reminded me of my time in Europe! :)

Click around the site, and check it out!
