I have to bail on this evening, a Union work call got moved from 9am to 2pm, and I'm pretty sure it's a 5 hour call, and the load out is at 1:30am, so I'll need to go home to get some rest in between.

Glad you guys were open to practicing ten angles of attack and not the five you usually use; that was a lot of fun!

 

Was definitely different but enjoyable....hoping can finish up and put together a duell

 

i had a lot of fun! that one jab will get everyone pretty much all the time hah.

 

I don't think we have time to get a well choreographed duel together before Sunday but I am confident you and I can ad lib pretty well. Indeed, if we keep drilling the ten angles and defenses against them, I am wondering if for most events we could do more of freestyle sparring than choreographed duels.

 

I would be up for that freestyle dueling could pretty neat as long as the duelers know each other and can read each other well.

 

Ultimately, I think that given we can't predict the timeframes and areas in which we might be asked to duel, freestyle dueling is the logical goal of these practices. But, as you indicate, that will take some time. At a rough guess, I'd say at least 15-20 hours with a dedicated partner. Drilling back and forth defenses against the ten angles of attack will be an excellent tool toward that end.

 

Would I be correct in assuming that you have suggested making these duels more of a fencing match than choreographed duels? I think I like it

 

We should develop choreographed duels, but I think those are best suited to story telling as with the Bisons event. Otherwise, yeah, I think we will be able to more easily provide events with demonstrations by teaching each other how to fence with sabers.

I know I did! It is great being able to "play with lightsabers" with very positive people who are trying to help each other have fun. I really enjoyed the free flowing back and forth as everyone had something to say to each other about how we were dueling.

 

I know this is short notice, but is anyone interested in meeting tonight for some saber practice?

Sorry. No. But, before the morning demo as well as the afternoon demo, perhaps it would be okay if not desirable to have us practicing publically?

 

i dont see why it would be a problem, it will still be something for people to watch and see the work we put in.
