I know "some people" rarely check Comms and usually ignore stickies, soooooo...

MOVE UPDATE:

The IGN exodus is almost here! IGN is sending us a sample of the forum data for us to look at, study, and help us prepare for the actual move. If there are no problems with the sample data, then the ball is in our court and we will be moving as soon as the new forum is ready to go. IGN says we will be able to make a request for the full forum data export whenever we're ready for it.

Currently, the test board is still being worked on, and needs a lot more work done before it looks anything like this place. We're getting there though, and a lot of mods and RSAs are finding they like some of the default vBulletin features that are not available here.

So get ready everyone, the move is coming sooner than you think! If you're concerned about saving your old threads or PMs, check out the handy backup tool that Xan posted here. It will allow you to "automagically download and save stuff from the JC" just in case.

*** ALERT FOR ALL ACTIVE USERS -- UPDATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS! ***

Please double-check your profile and make sure you have a working email address filled in under Private E-Mail Address. If you do not have an email address associated with your account, you may not be able to log into your account after the move. There is a strong chance that passwords will not transfer with the rest of the data, and if that's the case, all users will have to recover their password via email the first time they log in. Mods and admins will not be able to lookup your password for you.

Argh, I just remembered to save a couple of my socks and the stupid system wouldn't let me use the same e-mail address so I had to use three different ones. Now I have to remember which ones I used!

Nope, you can't. The system won't let you save a profile if it has the same email address as another account. If all your socks have the same email address, just leave them alone and make sure your primary account is updated.

If I had dates, I would be telling you them.

Your socks won't be unusable after the move if you don't update them. You'll just have to get an admin to update them for you, though we'll have to verify they're yours first.

Usernotes, knowing the email address on the account, IP addresses from posts, etc.

What we don't want is a thousand users filling up Comms and our PM boxes after the move complaining that they can't log into their accounts. So if you have the time to do this yourself right now, do it. If not, you'll have to wait for an admin to do it for you, which might take a while.

I checked and both this account and one of my socks are using the same e-mail address, though you say this isn't possible. Is this a problem? Should I try to make it so only one account is using each address?

No, that's okay. It's an old sock, right? Different users could share e-mail addresses before, but IGN changed it during one of the updates; the boards won't let you do it anymore.
