Sooo I went to the Community panel at Comic Con and it was probably the highlight of the Con for me. I was there early and moved up until I was in the third row right in front of the panel. Which was epic. All of the main cast members were there. And I don't think I've been to any other panel where the audience was quite this enthusiastic. The cheering at the beginning went on for about 5 minutes. Then the cheering for each person when they answered was loud and long.

Overall, just really great. They were floored, we were stoked. It was very funny and just really rad. Gillian Jacobs said she seriously cried when she came out and heard the reception.

One of my favorite moments of the panel.... Allison Brie was asked about the Jeff/Annie thing and her response was pretty funny. As was Joel's. Unfortunately the only videos I could find are really shaky. Ah, well.

Basically it was incredible and they dropped some cool stuff about the next season. And I just want this show to go on forever but I fear for it :(

I got there around noon to keep moving up for the panel at 3. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me, though. Otherwise I could have taken better pictures/videos :p

Were you at this panel Mike? I somehow didn't connect with any JCers at the Con, even though I tried to get ahold of Rachel and I saw Brian walking around in his Eo costume.

What happens if we already hate you? The fact that you got to attend that panel only increased my hatred.

Well then I shall continue to antagonize/haunt/besmirch you.

Let's continue that with one of the characters Donald does on set, a homeless guy who tries to have sex with Joel. Mature content warning. No cable channel words, unless you count repeated use of the word 'penis'.

I was also incredibly happy about the subtle plot making fun of $h*! My Dad Says, which looks horrible.

Also my Season 1 DVDs came today. This is a good day [face_love]

Ok. Title retained. Community is still my favorite show on TV.

Heh. I loved the nod they gave with Donald Glover when he was waking up in the opening. ;)

Yeah, that was great ;) I definitely grinned a lot at that. And this show is so meta that it even referenced being meta. Man I love it.

Drew Carey and Rob Corddry (the latter of The Daily Show) are guesting next episode. I wonder just how many guest stars they'll have this season.

i watched like 15 episodes of this show yesterday and am almost caught up. it's really good, no doubt. the only thing that kind of bugs me is that they constantly repeat this cycle of trying really hard, either for a laugh or to get you emotionally invested in the characters only to take a step back with some meta reference or sarcastic reminder that they're not really taking it all that seriously. it almost always works and is funny, but it starts to feel really formulaic after a while.

Maybe if you were only watching one show per week, that wouldn't be quite so obvious / annoying. :p

haha, true. but i'm definitely hooked. it will be one show per week soon enough, only have like four more episodes to watch.

also i already had a crush on trudy campbell (allison brie) but now that i've seen her as an ultra-innocent 18 year old i kinda creeped myself out.

    Yeah, that's a good point I would say :p

Also, I do agree some of the 'emotional' bits don't play all that well, particularly early in the series. I think they started to find their tone near the end of the first season, though.

?But you should know, we didn't just kiss. We technically Frenched. I know because of the make-out meter in this month's issue of the ... National Review.?

That was my favorite joke of the episode--if I had to pick only one.

    Haha yes! That was brilliant.

I love how they are playing up the fact of how young Annie is. Even though, contrary to Jeff's exaggerations, she's not going to get him on any sex offender registries as she's at least 18 if not 19 by now. Still, it was a good running joke about her being so young. I wonder if they will do anything with that romance though... I can't see them totally throwing it away. Too much dramatic and comedic potential.

No, it's not illegal for Jeff to do anything with Annie, but if he's as old as Joel McHale (all indications point to that), he's still over twice her age. :p

What the hell happened to Drew Carey? He's morphed into skinny Dolph Lundgren?

I've only seen him lately on 10 year old Whose Line reruns where he's still huge. Freaky!
