Is there anyone elso who wants to go?
I have sent out a list of names to the Women's Centre on Clarke Road.
The following people were on it with there real names not SW names.
and our volunteer: Christine
It is now to late to add anymore names. It would be nice to see more people willing give thier time to make life better for the children out there.
Here is a nother project for our group.
I have contacted the Thames Valley Children's Centre about working with them. Here's the reply I got back.
Thank you for your email. I apologize for the delay in getting back to
you. I had to speak with the various program leaders within our centre
to see if there might be a fit for your group in one of their programs.
As a result of my discussions with them it appears that all of our
summer programs have currently been planned for already, and they mostly
involve the younger population who may be freighted by your costumes.
However our Community Relations team was very interested in having you
involved in an event that they plan for the children called We're All
Stars. This event takes place in January (the second week) at the
London Convention Centre. Our first planning meeting won't be until
September. Please let me know if your group would be interested in
making an appearance (it is on a Monday between 10am-3pm) and if you
would like more details.
We look forward to hearing from you.
This is a long ways off but a gig at the Convention Centre would be good for our group.
damn then i'm out. I may be moving before that month.
Ok, but are you going on July 17th?
i believe i have that day off. I'll call you when i find out tomorrow
Ok, hear's something that keeps coming up. Birthday parties.
Who out there is willing to go out to birthday parties as a way of fund raising?
I have been asked about four times now and I think it is a good idea and a great way to pay for the events that we do.
However, once again, if it is only Darth Vader and the trooper going out. It's not fare, so I would be thinking of using it on the Garrison only if no one else is helping.
I would try to go if I get enough warning time.
that's funny when you get enough warning you wont commit.
alright Rob shutup. I'm trying to be there to the things as much as I can but now I can't.
I guess some of us just can't take the heat.
tom and i have already been dooing some birthdays as a hobby buisness lol
Doing parties sounds like fun.
But I would need to know the date ahead of time so I can tell my work.
If its in the winter I would also have to think about school.
Ok, The Women's Centre is sending us a thank you letter for our scrap book.
Also, we've been invited back to the Women's Centre for around Christmas. This time it will be at the Wellington St. South location.
So if anyone has any ideas for what we can do there let's hear them. Also, if you can come up with some gifts for the children that would be a big help too.
Hears some ideas from what we've done before:
SW print Bandanas.
Little stuffed animals with SW print bandanas.
Stormtrooper print face masks.
Foam sabers from the dollar store.
I'll be able to do that. Just give me a when and I'll book that time off.
Yeah it's a long way off. do you think you could contribute gifts for the children?
I could come up with something
Yeah, I was asked about doing birthday parties again.
Does anyone want to go down to the red cross to give blood?
i have some stuf that tom and i did for a birthday this summer that could be good for the scrap book
Great bring it with you on Sunday.
I'm out for that one. Not only am I very low on Iron most of the time, I can't stand the site of blood.
For a visit to the children's hospital. I am requesting tues, Oct, 30 after 4:00 PM.
I'm assuming Star Wars costumes, not Hallowe'en costumes?
I can go and my friend, K-La, will most likely be able to come aswell.
Sounds like fun. I look forward to going.
