Chapter 20

"What is she doing in that thing?" Jacen remarked, concern for his sister-in-law showing in his voice.

"It keeps her alive, husband. Without it, she would die in unconsciousness," Tenel Ka whispered.

"So, if we wake her up, she'll be alright?" Tanner asked thoughtfully.

"And how do you propose we do that?" Anakin muttered.

"Does she wake up when she's angry?" Jacen asked, sounding all the more like he was going to say something dumb.

"Sometimes..,"

"So, give her an adrenaline rush,"

"And how do you propose we do that? Toss her off a cliff?"

"Hey, that's not a bad-"

"Forget it, butt brain," Kyp laughed. "We're not tossing Anakin Solo's wife off a cliff to certain death."

"Then how do we wake her up?" Jacen asked.
His wife shook her head in amusement.

"I'm willing to bet the machine has a switch that does just that," Tanner remarked.

"So, how do we get to her?" Jacen asked softly.

"We'll need a distraction," Jaina stated the obvious.

"Yes," Anakin remarked.
Everyone looked at Jacen with a semi-evil expression.

"What?" He asked, oblivious. "Oh no..."

Did you hear that?
[i]Umm, no.[/i]
Someone is calling my name!
[i]That means you're waking up.[/i]
Yes!
[i]So, um, talk to you later.[/i]
*mumbles*
[i]Whatever. You'd better wake up quickly.[/i]
Fine. Later...

"Tahiri, you've got to wake up, quick!" Anakin hissed to his wife. "Come on, Angel, I'm here now. We can go home," He stroked her cheek, paling when she didn't move. "Come on, baby, don't leave me like this."

[color=sienna]We've gotta go, kid.[/color]

Anakin hoisted his wife up into his arms gently and Force-leapt onto the platform. "Let's go."

"Sir!"
Nom Anor turned around abruptly, and the young human soldier gulped.
The Yuuzhan Vong spy was always a terrifying sight.

"What is it?" Nom Anor asked gruffly.

"There are no passengers aboard the freighter."

"Ahh," [i]They think they can get away with a rescue attempt.[/i] "Where is Tahiri Veila?"

"She's still in place," the guard said in confusion.

"Augh!" Nom Anor became frustrated. "This ship is not the onee we've been looking for. Rar tricked me into wasting my time. Continue your search! And dump the freighter, it is worthless." Anor turned around, and the guard left.

"They're preparing the jettison our freighter with the rest of the garbage. If we hurry, we can even slip away unnoticed," Jaina said, helping Anakin carry Tahiri. "We have to run!"

"Why won't she wake up?" Anakin muttered, his great concern for his wife growing.

"Quick! Get on!" Kyp exclaimed softly. He helped his wife on first, followed by Anakin, who was carrying Tahiri, Jacen, Tenel Ka, and Tanner. The second the hatch closed, all the trash plus the vessel was jettisoned into space. Kyp let the stardestroyer get about one fourth of a par sec away before starting the engine and zooming off towards Yavin IV.

Anakin stroked his wife's hair gently. "The last time I felt like this; it was our wedding day, and Nom Anor and Alema had been up to no good. Do you remember?" Tahiri remained unconscious. "I see that your wounds have healed. I'm glad. I was worried about you, Angel," No response. Anakin lay his head on his wife's shoulder, looking up into her face. "I'm still worried."

Anakin heard a baby's cry in the back of his mind.
He sat upright and looked around; no one else had seemed to have heard.
Suddenly, Tahiri jolted awake with a gasp.
Anakin gathered her tenderly in his arms, holding her close.
"Owen!" She exclaimed, her arms wrapped around her husband tightly. Anakin paled. "Ani, we need to check on our son."
She whispered in his ear. Right then, he didn't hear her. He was too relieved to have her alive.
He held her to his chest and kissed her for all he was worth.

Tahiri's safe and awake but the kids are missing now? Oh dear...

Great update! Oh boy, Anakin & Tahiri aren't going to react well to the threat to the kids. The Ben/Allana team was great, she's so cute

Great update! Loved seeing Nom Anor, and I liked Alema actually doing evil things when she's on the dark side instead of just dressing skimpier. And the kids were good, too.
