Here's a note about ConCarolinas from Janet (motf-jan) the Fanforce city rep Charleston SC.

Con Carolinas is an annual fan con in Charlotte NC held in June, and it's time to start planning to go! We had a good contingency from our group last year - Stacey, Adam, Chris and I went along and had a great time!

Janet has been on the staff for several years now and for those who did not go last year, Jeanine Garner of Jacksonville's NC Fan Force won the top award for costume design, and there were plenty of fun Star Wars stuff and other fantasy activities. The discussion groups were thought provoking, and there are several RPG and LARPing things to wrap your mind over. Hope you can make it!

    *********************************************

In addition to fan force, I also help out with a not for profit Con
    in Charlotte called ConCarolinas.

This year, we have Greg Keyes, author of several New Jedi Order
books as our author guest of honor. We also have John Ringo,David
Franklin from Farscape, and Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead. Lots
of activities are posted on the website :
    http://secfi.org/concarolinas

The big thing is Albin Johnson from the 501st is our Fan Guest of
Honor and we are donating $1 from every membership to Katie. We'll
also have special Star Wars auction items that will go to Katie such
as a Jedi Robe/Tunic custom made for the high bidder by Janine
Gardner of the Jacksonville, NC fanforce and also known from ROTO,
and Starwarsfanworks.com . They'll be doing several fan audio
broadcasts from our con. We also have the Great Luke Ski, a very
    fun entertainer!

Still time to get the pre-registration rate of $25 for the weekend.
We have online payments through Paypal available. Cut off time for
the hotel is May 12th. The rooms are very nice and large and there
are plenty of fast food places nearby. We also have a very good
Consuite which makes going out for food usually not needed. Group
rates for 10 or more are available through mail only.

There is also Star Wars gaming, but since I'm not a gamer I can't
tell you what. They may still need GM's. It your one, you can
inquire about it through the website.

This is one of the smaller local cons in the area and we truely
depend on fan support to survive and grow.

    Thanks,
    Janet

I'll be there as a GM. I'm running a SWM event, I think it will be Sunday morning, but I'm not 100% sure.

Cool, maybe I'll actually learn it!

I believe they'll have D20 as well if I'm not mistaken.

    Willhi,
It looks like from the website you have two events one Saturday and one Sunday if I'm not mistaken.

I should also up date you one the Scifi Swap meet on Sunday Morning. Bring in you collectibles to trade or sell to other collectors at the con.

Sort of a Sci fi flea market.

My bad, I have scheduled the Star Wars Miniatures Demo for Saturday night not Sunday morning. The D&D Miniatures Demo is Sunday morning. Stop by if you can, and I'll teach you. It takes about 20 minutes to go trhough the basics.

I have an extra double bed in my hotel room. If anyone wants to split it and the cost, let me know. It would be $75 for two nights plus half the taxes and fees. I'll be pretty busy since I'm a GM. I have to wake up semi early too so I'd prefer to room with someone who won't be partying too much. If you're interested, send me a PM.

We've kept Paypal registration open through this weekend to the large demand of people wanting the discount. Also, the hotel has extended the hotel block time limit to May 26th.

We've got new events being added all the time:
    Star Wars Fan Films-
    Sins of the Jedi
    Revelations
Saving Star Wars will all be shown.

Also remember $1 from every membership goes to Katie.

I just got in a large amount of Brand new ROS 18 month Calenders that were donated for our auction. Most likely, we'll put a cheap price on them and the first people to grab them will get them. I also have a fair amount of EPI special video collectionl Throw the video away and keep the special film frame and Art of Star Wars book. I paid $30 for mine, but due to a special donation from Toys R Us Charleston, you'll be able to get it at the auction for a whole lot less! I'm also bringing vintage items from my personal collection to help out as well.

And it looks like David Weber will attend this year. It'll be one of the first times he and John Ringo have been at a con in awhile.

And we may be adding one other celebrity guests whose most work has been on the Trek, Alien Nation on B5 shows.
