A 501st member on another forum (someone from the Bast Alpha Garrison in Louisiana) asked me if anyone from Texas was planning on going to ConDuLac. It's a sci-fi con in St. Charles on June 13-14. There's going to be a costuming panel and a table for the 501st Legion. I won't be able to go, but is anyone else planning on going? (BTW, has anyone here figured out how to subscribe to a topic and get email notifications? I can't figure it out.)
This might work if we did a group trip. Maybe a van or lrge pick up and several of us go. I have to say though I have never heard of this convention before.
OK, it looks like I can make this unless something changes. The family will not be able to attend. You have to get your tickest by June 10th to save $5. $25 v. $30 at the door and an extra charge for credit card at the door. We have to be suited up by 11 am. Anyone for helicopter rides? $25 for 30 minutes. I am considering even with being afraid of heights. This might be so cool or scare me really bad.
When did you get a Han costume? No Con du Lac for me, though I am almost tempted to go just for a helicopter ride. Be sure to get some pics. Be sure to get in touch with the Lousiana garrison. They're great folks and I'm sure will be happy to see you!
Looks like we have 4 in our car pool. Chris, Danny, Joshua and myself. The plan at the moment is to leave early Saturday morning and return late Saturday evening so we can make it to our churches on Sunday morning. Anybody else going from Houston?
LOL ... no Han costume ... I'm going to attempt and get some pictures at the event and I'm in contact with one of the guys at the local garrison and told him I can help out with the table for a shift if needed (just waiting on a reply back).
Con du lac was small, but pretty cool. We got to escort Apollo from his helicopter it was neat. We harassed a few Star Trek fans and even took pics with a couple of green girls. Kirk is not the only guy who gets to hang with the green chicks. Hopefully we will get pics up soon. We missed everybody, and BTW the Louisiana 501st guys are awesome. I see us going down there again soon.
The event was small but it wasn't that bad for a first time con (as I have seen worse for a first go around). I do have pics up on my myspace page (in it's own folder).
