ST Confirmed! Obi-Wan's voice shouts "Rey!" in flashback sequence

People people people! Has this been posted yet?? Ewan McGregor AKA Obi-Wan Flippin' Kenobi provided his voice for Rey's flashback scene. This confirms that it was Obi-Wan's voice shouting Rey!

So is she related??

OR

Did Luke incorporate the Force ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and maybe even... Anakin?? into the training of the new Jedi Academy?

 

Rey is Obi-Wan-Kenobi's grandkid.
Likely Daisey Ridley's (Rogue One) kid.
Possibly Luke's kid.

Which would make her all powerful Skywalker-Kenobi lineage.

 

Quite interesting and awesome; since Obi-Wan is my favorite character.

 

We also heard Yoda's voice in the sequence. What do we think about Force ghosts being a part of Luke's academy?

I don't know what to think. This is weird...especially since I don't remember hearing voices during the vision sequence. Well, maybe I do, now that I think about it, but it was all such a whirlwind.

I seriously don't know what to think about this. Somebody think about this for me.


EDIT: This hearkens back to the AOTC sequence where we hear Qui-Gon Jinn's voice..."Anakin, no..." or whatever...I can't remember exactly.

I don't know what it could mean, besides she might have a connection to Luke or Obi-Wan or Anakin.

 

Genuine excitement at this.

 

I saw James Arnold Taylor's confirmation of this on Twitter. Very cool! And the fact that it's Ewan makes it even cooler.

 

It is being discussed in Rey's Vision thread. You hear Luke, Obi-Wan, and Yoda in it.

It was recorded by Ewan just for Episode VII... he shouts "Rey!" and sounds like Alec Guinness

 

This makes me very happy! I adore Ewan!

 

We may never know why Obi-Wan's voice was heard. Yoda's vision during the prequels is still unexplained (although I do remember a Clone War episode that addressed this to some extent).

Oh wait….I must sound like those people who said TFA undermined the Prequels.

I'd be up for seeing E-wan return as Obi-Wan in 8 or 9.

 

I KNEW IT! Rey is going to be Rey Kenobi!!!

 

My wife was convinced it couldn't have been him, because it sounded too much like Guinness, and Guinness is no longer with us.

 

I literally thought it was Alec Guiness somehow.

 

I also think that Rey Kenobi would be a splendid idea. It would make Obi-Wan seem a bit mysterious too and if they want to do an Obi feature film then making Rey a Kenobi is a perfect way to prepare for it.

Rey is strong because she comes from a force-sensitive family.

 

Oh man, I seriously hope we see Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda in Force Ghosts form in Episode VIII. I have no doubt their presence could work within the story.

 

Maybe it's to illustrate how powerful her potential with the force is - to be able to make a connection through the force with people she's never even met?

 

I listened for it this time, so I'm glad to see it confirmed! Funny enough, his "Rey" is a good impression of Guinness, though his "first steps" follow up definitely sounded more like Obi-Ewan.

 

If I had to guess, she is not related to Luke in anyway but she is just very sensitive to the force and could see and feel all the things of the past and future through touching that saber. Oh and on a side note, I got the chills when I heard Luke's screaming from Return Of The Jedi in that flashback sequence.
