All I can say is, if conservatives don't want to be accused of terrorism, they shouldn't say things like "lock and load" and "don't retreat, reload".

    Peaceful conservatives, please refudiate.

All I can say is, if liberals don't want to be accused of terrorism, they shouldn't say things like "they bring a knife, we bring a gun".

All I can say is, if CNN doesn't want to be accused of terrorism, they shouldn't name a political show Crossfire.

Poorly constructed arguments can be used to blame anyone for this because language is FAR richer than being strictly literal, and many words and phrases are used in many different ways.

If conservatives don't want to be accused of terrorism they should really you know...find a bridge. Ba-da-boom!

In all seriousness--the gun references are a cliche every politician uses because (from what I gather) they see politics as a war. Therefore as long as you see politics as a sort of war that must be fought then you're going to get gun-y language mixed in. Personally I find politics to be a lot more childish than a war. Or as childish as our gun culture. So I'd be using poop references and "I know you are but what am I" arguments. Which, of course, is used anyway with the gun language. And there's nothing more dangerous than a child with a gun.

Where was I going here? Oh yes, that bridge. Politicians need to find a big one and just do what a honorable person would do. I needn't elaborate much further.

Pretty much. I mean, there is a time and a place for violence, when dealing with a dangerous authoritarian regime, or when facing an invasion. But I see no evidence that the Obama administration is more authoritarian than the Bush administration. (Sadly, evidence that it's less authoritarian is also lacking.) So far all I've seen is a few racists saying white people are going to be slaves or put in concentration camps now. Having worked with human rights groups in the past, I don't know if I should laugh or be offended.

So, as an update on Congresswoman Gifford's condition, she was able to stand (with a little help) yesterday, and will be leaving the hospital tomorrow to move to a rehabilitation center!

*bolded for emphasis. I think that part of the delusion is that the U.S. is somehow under attack from within because of liberals.

Of course we are. That's why so many liberals own guns, because they want to make the US a commie pinko paradise. It's so clear. It's the religious conservatives who are holding back the tide with their guns.

Yeah, there is a strange irony to the assassin killing several people, but failing to kill his target...

    More good news!

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' condition has been upgraded from serious to good and she will be moved to a rehabilitation center Wednesday morning, according to hospital officials in Houston.

Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, were photographed in her hospital room watching President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech.

Giffords was moved to Houston Friday from Tucson, where she had been treated since being shot Jan. 8 in an assassination attempt that left six people dead and 12 others wounded.

The statement said "Giffords has made strong progress" in the intensive care unit and was ready to move on to rehabilitation. A news conference was planned for 3 p.m. local time Wednesday.

And from without because of Mexicans.

The interesting thing is, the attempts to create a fifth column in America have generally been made of fail. They really have.

First you had the Nazis. Now, they were somewhat successful with the German-American Bund. "Somewhat" meaning that when you consider how many Americans are of German descent, the number they recruited is almost meaningless. Americans preferred to think people of Japanese descent were disloyal, though. The Nazis themselves then tried to disguise themselves as anthropologists in the 30s. Goebbels went so far as to declare the Sioux to be Aryan. The result? Indian tribes took an almost He Who Fights Monsters approach to the issue, outlawing all national socialist activity. Many declared war on Germany before the United States did. (Technically, the Iroquois were still at war with Germany, but still...)

The Soviets tried a much more subtle approach. For a long time in America, the center was between Marxism and liberalism. This despite Marx's belief that America's long association with slavery kept communism from being possible in America. This would've worked, had it not become obvious what the Soviet Union was like. America also had its moments of staring into the abyss here.

Finally, we have Al Qaida. Yes, they've gotten a few Americans to engage in terrorist activity. They've also claimed that OVER 9000! Jews were late to work on 9/11, which stretches the limits of credibility. Their greatest success has been in getting televangelists, always eager to lead their flock down the Path of Inspiration, to claim homosexuals and feminists were responsible for 9/11.

Hey, when where the feminists dragged into that? I suppose they're (we're) keeping good company, though - what about environmentalists?

I was talking about the attempts to make a fifth column. The Japanese didn't actually attempt to recruit Japanese-Americans, to my knowledge.
