Speculation Conspiracy Theory on Lucas, Disney and Episode 7

Let me enjoy my hyperbole and amusing mental image, willl ya?

 

Of course, of course. I'm enjoying it quite a bit myself.

 

This helps my conspiracy theory even more. If you want to believe my far fetched story!

Lucas is obviously trying to distance himself to the ST because he doesn't want to give Hollywood or the fans the idea he is involved because of the backlash from the PT. If he just came out and said "I'll be there every step of the way", people would be running for the hills.

Also it's odd that after Alan Horn said that Lucas would be "very, very involved", Lucas comes out a couple days later saying that he isn't going be involved. Somebody has their information confused, or someone is lying.

Sources say the new director will have only one "boss" which we know is Kathleen Kennedy. And we all know who Kennedy "unofficially" answers too. I'm hoping my conspiracy is true.

Or it could be what it is, face value: Lucas is basically out and Disney is calling all the shots. It seems unlikely though that like Lucas said, why would they come to him when they have all that data in encyclopedias of stuff?

It's good to know I'm not the only one that believe this idea. Lets hope its true!

I don't thing you're wrong about anything other than Lucas' role. While it seems he has some form of veto power, it would not surprise me if Disney can force him out if they feel he's hampering the creative process. Let's face it - Lucas hasn't released anything really good since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. His last 4-5 movies have ranged from merely okay to horrible. He's not going to have the majority of the control.

 

I don't think Disney will have anything to do with how much creative control Lucas does or doesn't have. First of all, he's now a VERY major stockholder, and secondly, 4 of his last 5 movies made tons of money regardless of how they were received by critics (who have never liked Lucas) or even the public (who still seem to have an obsessive love/hate relationship with him).

 

While I hope you are right, and they are able to get GL off the set if he starts screwing things up, doesn't 2 billion buy, like, 40 millionish shares of Disney ? That seems like a lot, especially when you consider there are only approaching 2 billion shares outstanding. Is someone who owns around 2% of Disney able to be forced out?

Meh KOTCS was a guilty pleasure, and in some ways I feel that it was better than TOD.

I liked it - and stick this in your pipe and smoke it - I felt it was better than TOD in ALL ways.
