Coolest Ship in the OT?

I'd definitely say the Millennium Falcon. Its has to be one of the all-time great fictional vehicles. I absolutely love the way the designers managed to convey the idea of the ship looking like a pile of junk, yet also giving it an aura of solidity and strength. There are few, if any, sci-fi vehicles that are as much characters in their own right as the Falcon is.

I wish the OT had ships in it that were as central as the Falcon was: there certainly isn't a lack of great, chracterful designs, but none have been integrated into the cast as it were. When details of Episode I started trickling through, I'd hoped that the Republic Cruiser would be the new trilogy's "Falcon" but it wasn't to be. Oh well, at least the PT isn't a derivative carbon-copy that replicates the OT detail-for-detail. That would have been criminal. Still, a central ship with an attitude would have been nice....

God, there are so many. Where do you start? Falcon, Star Destroyer, Y-Wing, X-Wing, Imperial Shuttle, TIE Fighter???

When I was a kid I had a thing for Y-Wings. Now I'm older I'd probably choose the Imperial Shuttle. I would have chosen the Star Destroyer but you can't make whooshing sounds with that when you play with the toys...

The TIE Advanced is my favorite.

 

I like the A-wings. Pure speed baby. I always wished they had used them more. One of my RPG characters had an A-wing, modified with heavier shields and blasters that rotated almost 360 degrees! It rocked! Yeah, so I had a lenient game master, hehe.

 

My favorite ship has always been the Slave I. I just think it has one of the coolest and most original design.

 

For me it is the X-Wing fighters.

 

w/o a doubt the Millennium Falcon .. i mean, c'mon! it was the fastest ship in the galaxy!

 

The Y-Wing. The best attack run (to watch) in the whole movie series so far (I through VI) is the Y-Wing attack on the Death Star. And to quote Joe Johnston on them, they're the "Grand Prix" of STAR WARS fighters. They were impressive in Jedi to boot.
Worst thing about the EU is what they've done to the Y-Wings, half of it is illogical too.

 

I think I like Darth Vader's Tie fighter the best.

The Millennium Falcon, because...well, it's THE Star Wars ship! Here's hoping we get a cameo for the Falcon in Ep3!

After the Falcon, I'd probably go for the Slave I, even though it doesn't actually do much, the look alone is great...just like its pilot

 

As far as the movies go, the Falcon's the best, without a doubt.

But as for actually flying the things...TIE Interceptor. Ever played Rogue Squadron? That thing is ridiculously fun to play with.

One of these days when I'm a filthy rich celebrity who spends money on things that make people go, "Why would he blow money on that?" I'm going to have a full-scale reproduction constructed in a reproduction of Docking Bay 94, housed inside an addition off of my house.

The Executor rules ALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

 

For ships in general, the Falcon. For fighters, the TIE Interceptor and B-Wing. For capital ships, the Executor. All badass ships in their own right, although the Interceptor and B-Wing are unfortunately only seen in quick battle shots in ROTJ.

 

From a "character" standpoint...

From a design standpoint, the X-Wing!
People can sorta use the TIEs and Y-Wings as a jumping off point and get away with it, they can't even get close to the X-Wing design without giving away their inspiration!

 

The X-wing, closely followed by the Falcon. Everything else is left in the dust.

 

The Falcon has my vote... I mean she's the fastest ship in the galaxy!!! Plus the pilot - Han Solo - he's pretty cool...
After that it would have to be... Nope sorry, just the Falcon for me!

 

Super-class Star Destroyer for me.
