    Lazlo Lundi
    On-Station: Maintenance Shaft

The small mechanic closed the panel he'd been working on and stowed his wrench in his pocket. The wiring had been fairly easy, and he quickly replaced his multitool and stashed that in another pocket. Lazlo clambered out from his perch and hopped down to the walkway, light as can be.

Tanial was speaking to the Selonian. "We were just about to get some caf - perhaps you would like to join us?"

"Stimcaf," corrected Lazlo, brushing his hands on his coveralls to remove dust. He glanced at the Selonian, spoke quickly, "Systems should be good. Increased efficiency today, wiring's good." Ferrault ought to be pleased with that, thought Lazlo, and he extended a hand to the Selonian, who had introduced herself as Mariisa.

"Lazlo Lundi. I fix things. You a mechanic?"

    Mariisa
    On-Station: Maintenance Shaft

Mariisa heard a small click somewhere off in the distance, and then she saw a human male appear.

Tanial had just asked about grabbing some caf, when the human broke into the conversation. "Stim-caf," corrected the human, brushing his hands on his coveralls to remove dust. He glanced at her, then spoke quickly, "Systems should be good. Increased efficiency today, wiring's good." he quickly told them, as he extended a hand towards her.

Mariisa had been told about that as a standard greeting. She looked down at the hand, and extended her own hand to shake his, as he spoke.

"Lazlo Lundi. I fix things. You a mechanic?"

This human certainly spoke fast. Mariisa wigled an ear, as she shook his hand. "Mariisa. I too fix things. I am .. I work with computers and subsystems." she told him. She didnt want to introduce herself as a slicer. Or that she lived and breathed computers and programs. No, that could wait. She withdrew her hand from his, and slipped the tiny droid she had on her shoulder back into her pouch.

"Have you been here long?" she asked Lazlo, curious if he knew anything about the systems in this place. After a few moments, she added, "So...where we go?" she asked looking to Tanial.

IC: Davos Reemus - Station Hanger Bay

There was no conversation between the group that Davos had been with until the female Coalition Armed Forces LT had finally broken the silence while leading them into the Space Station. When the male LT arrived to take them beyond the hatch the conversations began with a subject that Davos knew could be uncomfortable for most. The Military officer that arrived in Davos' group asked "So did you all do your part during the wars?"

One of the Selonians did not take the question well and had to be calmed down by the other Selonian in a short exchange. The other human revealed he was a medic which Davos thought was an admirable position and did not need justifying. Davos tilted his head in the man's direction not knowing if the acknowledgment was received but wanted to show a measure of respect for a person that was helping instead of killing like he himself did. Davos thought about answering but considering the fact that he was working with Coronet's police services which was funded by the Rakatans. He needed to see more of this obviously judgmental Military man but realized that he had to say something because he would be working with these beings for the greater good of Corellia.

When Davos figured it was his turn to respond he replied with, "I was working within Coronet's Security Forces before the war and then was discharged. I worked as the capatain of the security force in a metallurgy factory and when the war broke out I helped in an underground militia group in Coronet keeping normal citizens safe from rioters and looters that were taking advantage of the situtaion." Davos left out the details of the deaths of his family members because no one needed to know about that.

    IC Major Ric Anders
    Station corridors

Anders was surprised at the range of emotions to what had been a simple question regarding their history. First was the Selonian who had taken umbrage that anyone would question her actions during the wars. But after being calmed down by her elder her answer itself was satisfactory, and if her reaction was any indication she was still a fighter. The elder of the two Selonians that had calmed her down gave her own brief explanation, infantry. From her demeanor he could tell she would be a rock under the stress of combat, the foundation of their security team.

The medic answered next, he seemed nervous at the prospect of the question, and than apologized if his answer or his deeds hadn't measured up. The group medic was always the first person that Anders would buy a drink at the bar after a hard mission. Soldiering was tough business, and the medics and docs that kept them going were worth their weight in gold to a combat unit. Still the guy hadn't mentioned any frontline experiance. Anders hoped he could take it if their group came under fire.

Tough guy answered last. His history of security work was good. Anders couldn't hold against him his profession before the wars had started. The fact that he used his skills to help civilians after the fighting had started more than made up for it. In their own way it seemed they had all done their bit for Corellian freedom. No malingerers or outright collaberators. No one that had fought for any Coalition enemies. He guessed that was to be expected, this mission was too important to let anyone of questionable loyalty take part. Still it was good to know that most of the members he had flown in knew how to handle themselves in a fight.

But there were no "eggheads" among them. No treasure hunters or analysts. No engineers or scientists that would know what it was they were all looking for. This must be the core of the security team than. A good group, a bit rough around the edges some of them, but a good group. He wondered why an all military team had not been assigned to the mission, but supposed that answer was above his pay grade.

He regarded them all and smiled as they continued on their way. "Good enough." He paused, segueing into another topic. "Sounds like we will be working together for the duration of this one. So, now I have one more very important question for you all, and your usefulness to me and this unit is riding on your answers. Especially if we are going off world and out of contact with any support units." Another pause, simply for dramatic effect. "Do any of you make a decent cup of caf?"

To Davo's surprise, and he was sure to the surprise of the others as well, the Military officer gave a look over all of them and he smiled. He then said, "Good enough." The officer waited for a bit before he continued on and said, "Sounds like we will be working together for the duration of this one. So, now I have one more very important question for you all, and your usefulness to me and this unit is riding on your answers. Especially if we are going off world and out of contact with any support units." Davos could only imagine what the officer would say next, but what came out was a mild surprise. "Do any of you make a decent cup of caf?"

Now suddenly Davos' opinion of this man had changed somewhat because at first he came across as all business and serious like. Also, from his first question to the group the officer seemed like he was confirming everyone's allegiances and wanted to make sure they would not betray the mission. Now the officer seemed like he was trying to back track and lighten the mood of the group. If this officer was to lead this group he needed to be consistent, although Davos agreed that a good cup of caf was always important during anything, mission or otherwise.

Cooking was a hobby of Davos' and felt that he would give this lighter side a chance for now. "I'm average at caf, but I cook a fantastic nerf rib steak.

She liked it when Lisander did it and she could not help but give him an almost girlish smile when he stood next to her. he surprised her, he always did. Poor Ringhaven was just the object of his pleasure. It was probably one of the reasons why she never did regret having joined the man on his mission to get rich by stripping away every cultural dignity of their planet and sell it. He was a surprise.

Turning back to the team she looked at the pilot who seemed fascinated by their ship. In her presence she wasn´t used to loose men´s attention to that old piece of rusting metal. But probably a pilot appreciated the fact a private person could entertain such a transport. He did not speak to them, so she preferred to allow him to stay in his dreamy state. They had business to go down to. Enough testosterone talk, enough ship-fancy.

"So who is in charge and when do we get the details?" She asked and folded her arms again. "Because Rakatan artifacts don´t get any younger either, you know?"

She gave Ringhaven a smile and then turned to Lisander, before finally addressing the other two. "So we should go to work, seriously."

Lieutenant Destyan had had the pinched look of someone who wanted to interject a couple of times, especially when the Selonians got a bit tense, but she relaxed Anders and Davos cracked jokes and the tension dissipated.

"You'll have a chance to show that off, if you like," she offered. "There's a machine in the cafeteria that makes decent caf, but we've never been able to convince our cook that nerf steak shouldn't be well-done. This way, please," she said, as the corridor forked.

They were soon in a section marked West Wing Living Quarters in incongruously bright orange paint. "Your quarters are all in this wing," she said, stopping. "Major, you're in that room there. Mister Reemus, over here -" she pointed them to their rooms one by one. All were identical: small civilian-style cabins with a bunk, a terminal, and miscellaneous amenities. "Captain Ferrault, the officer in charge of this station, will hold a general briefing in about two hours. Your terminals will tell you where to go."

"Major Anders," she added, "once you're settled, the Captain would like to meet you before the briefing - as you will be the officer in charge of security ..."

"Sirs," a slightly breathless voice interrupted. It was the young man who some had seen enter the hangar bay. He was wearing a new Corellian Armed Forces uniform with the rank insignia of a lieutenant, and had evidently hurried across as fast as he could without breaking out into an all-out run. "I apologise for keeping you waiting. We had a mix-up in scheduling - anyway, I'm Lieutenant Rigel."

He gestured in the direction of the exit with one hand and a slight nod, while holding the other hand palm-out in front of him. (Ran found that mannerism oddly familiar.) "I'm to show you to your quarters. If you'll follow me, please -?"

"This way, this way!" Tanial pointed down a corridor and marched down at a brisk pace (or at least a brisk pace for a Drall; Lazlo and Mariisa would have no trouble keeping up).

He led them through a series of forks, ladders and stairwells, all with the ineffably confident air of someone who knew exactly where he was going. Given the complicated route, though, Lazlo and Mariisa would have good reason to doubt that. Still, eventually, they came across a hatch that was marked CAFETERIA in bright yellow letters. "Here we are!" he said brightly, and attempted to shove the hatch open.

Attempted being the key word. Like the rest of the hatches on this station, this one was opened by turning a large wheel set in its centre. The little Drall evidently did not have the strength to do so easily.

Approaching it from the other end of the corridor was a human by the name of Eryk Graf, who - with the help of his map and memory - had found the cafeteria without much trouble at all. His presence went entirely unnoticed by Tanial, but perhaps not from the wiry human and tall Selonian that were standing behind the Drall.

Captain Ferrault cracked a smile. It looked like a sincere though not very well-practised expression.

"Nothing's been recovered yet; we have a few leads, but have thus far lacked the personnel to go investigate them. But our, ah, investigation experts should have already have arrived, and if they're as good as they say, we should have something. No issues with the comm arrays, although I'd advise against using the holo pickup. It works, but - secrecy and all that. You understand.

"As for food, Fenor can show you to the cafeteria." From the other side of the model, Fenor's head bobbed up and down in assent. The Captain's smile twitched. "Be back here in two hours for a briefing, please."

Or not. Surprisingly, the scholar Ringhaven and the two rogues that met them in the hangar bay were acting out a love triangle better than any holodrama Axel had ever seen. Not that he paid too much attention to such things. Quite amusing.

While the pilot, Lyle or something, checked out the other ships in the bay, Axel instead focused on the more rare and mysterious space station. He wasn?t about to go talking to strangers so soon, after the poor reception the last one gave him. The Lucifers were another casualty of the war, and he had sadly never been able to study one. However, there wasn?t much besides the airlock used for the large ships for him to look at. That was alright, though, because soon enough their guide, a Lieutenant Rigel finally arrived to take them to the briefing room.

?A mix-up in scheduling, huh,? he grumbled under his breath. ?To our quarters? Even worse, a further waste of time.?

    Mariisa
    On-Station: Cafeteria

"This way, this way!" Tanial pointed down a corridor and marched down at a brisk pace. Mariisa simply shrugged her shoulders and started to follow. She waited for the one called Lazlo to respond to her last question, and wondered what type of systems were on this station. It had certainly seen better days, that was for sure.

Thank goodness, life of living within tunnels was similar to crawling around in this station. So she would have no trouble with the strange series of forks, ladders and stairwells. She liked this, compared to some of the more 'open' areas of the station. She preferred the close and calm proximity of the walls around her. She could have sworn thought, the little Drall had doubled back over his steps, but they continued to follow. Eventually, they came across a hatch that was marked CAFETERIA in bright yellow letters. So, he did know where he was going. Mariisa twitched her nose.

"Here we are!" Tanial said brightly, and attempted to shove the hatch open. But the being seemed to be having trouble with the large wheel in the center. She wondered if it would insult him, by reaching over him to open the door when she heard a noise behind her.

A human male, was approaching behind their small group. Smoothing down her apron, Mariisa's nose twitched once more, as she peered over looking towards the male. That was different too. So many .. males. Quite interesting. How did the human females get ANY work done, with so many males about, she wondered. Probably why there werent that many females around at the station. Maybe she would get to learn more, while she was here as well.

Mariisa flicked her tail, as she sat back on her haunches, and waited for the door to be opened.

Rigel evidently had excellent hearing, for he heard Axel's mutter and raised his eyebrows.

"The Captain merely thought you would appreciate the opportunity to get situated before our work begins," he said evenly. "If you would prefer otherwise, I can direct you to the Captain, who will undoubtedly be happy you'd like to start right away. I understand you've a background in starship engineering - as you've probably noticed, there's plenty of need for your talents here."

Equally evidently, he had been briefed well enough to recognise Axel, and most likely the rest of the group as well.

Davos Reemus - Lucifer Station - West Wing Living Quraters

After Davos had offered his mild jape Lieutenant Destyan then acknowledged Davos' comment with, "You'll have a chance to show that off, if you like. Then to the officer she said, "There's a machine in the cafeteria that makes decent caf, but we've never been able to convince our cook that nerf steak shouldn't be well-done. This way, please.

Finally the group ended up where their living quarters were going to be in the west wing. The area was orange in color which bothered Davos somewhat. The lieutenant signalled where everyone's quarters were and Davos began to walk into it before the LT said, "Captain Ferrault, the officer in charge of this station, will hold a general briefing in about two hours. Your terminals will tell you where to go." As she said something to the officer, she called him Major Anders, Davos took his leave of the group and entered his room.

He dropped his duffle bag on the bed and looked around the simple room which was modest but probably perfect because the team was not going to spend much time there. Davos emptied his bag and placed his clothes in drawers and his code locked weapons case, which contained his blades and blasters, he set under the bunk. He layed on the bed and looked at the ceiling wondering whether he was doing the right thing. Yet he knew he was because it is what Caleb would have done.

Davos did not sleep much anyway because every time he slept he dreamed. When he dreamed, he dreamt of his father being murdered in a home invasion during the looting of Coronet?s residential areas and he arriving too late to do anything about it. The other dream was of Caleb?s death. As the riots and protests raged in Coronet, Davos went to see if Caleb was safe, but he was too late for that as well. By the time Davos had gotten to Caleb?s lab in the factory, he was lying in a pool of his own blood and that was when Davos had lost everything. These were his dreams and he had no intention of visiting them anytime soon.

Ran finally managed to extricate himself from Lisander's arm around his shoulder, making a show of brushing at the coatsleeves of his (elegant but understated) suit jacket where the man's arm had made contact. "I trust those quarters have a good quality of vibrowashers to get dirt out of clothes?" he asked.

Although it had to be said for Lisander that he'd inadvertently, if not fortuitously, covered for the look of surprise that had crossed Ran's face when Lieutenant Rigel had made the gesture he did. He lengthened his stride a little, moving to just into Rigel's shadow. "Your mother must be rather proud of your station in life, Lieutenant," he said.

    Location: Space, the disturbing frontier

The question of caf was raised, and so to was one ears perked at such an odd question. There was a response and then finally their walking Lt. had interposed on all their behalves with the mention of a cafeteria, caf, and even nerf. Being from Selonia nerf was more of an import with most food coming from the local waters with land being more of den priority then livestock.

Feeling her mouth water at even bad nerf she pulled out a small chrono-keeper and popped open it?s face to look at the mechanical time displayed within. Two hours. Two hours, meant she had more like one and a half hours to go and come back here to get directions and then fifteen minutes to get to the briefing location. Quickly she hurried into her rooms console and paused.

The room was huge, well compared to most rooms given to Selonian?s on Selonia. There was you and everything else could be done with your family. Preparing a hundred individual meals was wasteful compared to a group cook-off for each meal. Now that was depressing, why did she have to dredge up those memories? Because she missed it was not good enough, but at least food centers were reminiscent in purpose if not in feel.

Tapping up the map she stared at the readout and immediately noted things that it displayed. Not having been one to stare out the viewer on the way over she did not note the structural differences.

Nodding to herself she stepped back out of her room, still wearing her gear and carrying her weapon. Looking one way then the other she tried to orient herself, ?Cafeteria. . .is it that way?? she quietly spoke to herself before slowly heading off in the indicated direction looking for signs to keep her on the correct path.

    Carek Thorn
    Bedroom

After bidding good-bye to the Lieutenant, Carek explored his room. His suite back on Corellia had been somewhat worse than this. Carek rubbed his sore face, absorbing everything that had happened. He was pretty tired. The ride had made his legs weak, and it had finally hit him hard. He sat down on his bed, scratching his head as he wondered he was to do. Two hours of sitting in here and doing almost nothing? Like that was going to happen.

After making sure he had everything prepared for a good night?s rest the following night, he stepped out of the room.

He happened to see someone disappear around the bend. It had been the Selonian woman. Interesting. After twiddling his thumbs for a second, he heard a growl. Looking back and forth, he realized with an embarrassed sigh that it had came from his stomach.

All the talk of food had made him hungry.

He looked up the cafeteria. Perhaps the Selonian woman was going there as well. He could get to know some of the people here. He hoped she wasn?t as venomous as she had been in the previous conversation.

Strolling down the corridors, he began to hum a tune. Something one of his patients during the war had taught him. Carek glanced around, only to realize he had made a wrong turn. He retraced his steps, and got back on the right path. He thanked the heavens that no one had caught him in two stupid moments.

    Hunger called.

    The cafeteria couldn?t wait.

Rigel had turned to regard Ran with an inquisitive look when the man moved to catch up with him. Now he blinked, his gaze flickering from Ran to the others before settling back on the older man. If anyone was watching him closely, they might have noticed surprise flash across his expression before settling into the neutral look of someone doing some very quick thinking.

All in all, perhaps a telling reaction. If one was looking closely.

The young man recovered with admirable speed, however. "Ah ... she doesn't quite approve, actually." He flashed an engaging grin. "Thinks nothing good can come out of digging up the coneys' secrets, and all that. But she'll come around once we get results, I'm sure. Here we are."

The signage on this station was rather bad. In fact, there was none whatsoever.

However, from the map, the cafeteria shouldn't be terribly hard to find. The space station had a circular layout divided into four quadrants (north, south, east, west) with the living quarters on the top level and the communal living and recreation facilities one level below. The cafeteria was also in the west quadrant, meaning all Sacorr and Carek had to do to get there would be to find a stairwell or turbolift down.

The snag was, of course, that not all the turbolifts and stairwells were accessible. Sacorr passed two stairwells that were cordoned off with tape and a handwritten sign (respectively) before coming to a dead end that wasn't supposed to be there. Carek was probably not very far behind.

From here they had several options: they could try one of the cordoned-off stairwells (how bad could it be? It wasn't as if there were moving parts in a stairwell), retrace their steps to find an alternative way down, or ... something else entirely. It was up to them.

    Calcin
Lucifer Station: West Wing Living Quarters

Calcin entered her room and shut the door without a word, then looked around. Small, for human standards. Still, efficient use of spacing, basic amenities: very nice. Except that hellish color. Bright. Obnoxious. Must be rid of it.

Calcin tossed her things on the ground next to the bunk and leaned her glaive carefully against the wall. Turning out the light, she lay back on the bunk and tried to doze off. However, her thoughts kept her awake. Mines. Dark, dirty, cramped. Used to it. Down, down, down. What's that? Digs to the right, hits a bolder. "Brazen, need help! Large rock!" Brazen squirms down, tools in hand. Digging, eternal digging. The rock is gone, digging again. Here it is, what the coneheads want. Send the signal, climbing, climbing, climbing. Droids come too early, no room! Widen passage! Digging, digging, digging. Passage unstable, collapses. Brazen dead, others dead. Droids care not. Masters care not. They have what they want.

Calcin tossed and turned, unable to do anything. She sat up, cut the lights back on, and paced. Memories still there. Past lingers, need present, need NOW. Calcin strapped her glaive to her back, grabbed her map, then stepped out into the corridors. Mission. Focus on mission. Glancing at her map, she looked for a way up to the briefing room. At first seeing none, she eventually found one that led them back the way they had come, past the hanger. Not waiting around for the others, she set out in that direction.

"Thank you. Too kind of you. And he can have our soap and bathing time, I know how much cleaning dirty ole Ran needs." Lisander nodded to Ran and stepped through the door instead of Morgue. He knew she would probably not have anyone on her back anyway. And he was so eager to get working. For the Gods sake, what did they think he was here for? Soap and perfume? He had a shower and that was enough. But credits? He had not enough credits. "And our quarters won´t be needed. We sleep on our ship. Supplies and external energy is all we need to recharge batteries." he commented and looked around. a few things you always had to keep in mind. Escape routes, weaknesses in structures, easy ways to blow up the whole thing and such stuff . . .

"Stay close Morgue, I don´t trust those guys." He did not say it. The words never passed his mouth. But his look told Morgue exactly that.

Finally he turned to the two arrivals who had not been awestruck by his partner and smiled to the pilot. "Lyle, right? So you are a freelancer, too? In time we need to compare our paychecks!"

A short nod was all she replied to Lisander´s look. She felt the same. Then she turned her face and gave Ran a smile probably not as warm as she hoped for. And stepped through the hatch. Just because Lisander would think she´d never do that. Well, she could. she wasn´t paranoid. Just cautious. therefore on the other sidee she quickly moved towards the wall and made sure nobody was in her back, as Ran came through.

"How have you been Ran? It wasn´t since this . . . nasty little job that we saw each other, right? I always hoped to meet you afterwards, but we got busy on Selonia, before we got your message last week. An old ore-mine. Quite profitable and boring, I must say." She stepped next to him and while talking she looked around. she knew the "courtesy" of male and female conversation dictated her to look at him and nothing else she would have liked more, but an unfamiliar military enviroenmtn made her plan an escape, immediately. A reflex. With a smirk she realized Lisander´s eyes seemed to do the same. Obviously hse had catched some of his honest lack of trust again anyone.

Not the worst thing she could catch from him, certainly.

    Space Station

For his part, Ran didn't notice that Morgue wasn't looking at him, since he'd been too focused on giving an amiable smile to Lieutenant Rigel, and then takinghis own look around the station. Even so, his focus was probably entirely different; where he imagined Lisander and Morgue would've been looking for hidden blaster emplacements, he was slowly gathering what information he could garner from disused walls and bulkheads.
"Oh, well, I suppose that's life in your, ah, profession. It's rather the opposite for me, I have to say; not terribly profitable on an academic's stipend, but then, there's always cause for excitement. Like this platform, for example. But me, well, let's just say the academic life's not been anywhere near as exciting as when we last met. Would you believe they even had me lecturing, of all things?"

There was only genuine pleasure, without a hint of irony, in Ran's voice, for good reason: he'd actually found giving classes in late contemporary Corellian history to junior guildmembers a very agreeable experience. On the other hand, anyone who'd been around Ran Ringhaven for more than an hour or so would have imagined that.

He turned back to Lieutenant Rigel. "That does remind me, Lieutenant, I do hope you've got more than just one archaeologist out here? I mean, I'm guessing you got me out here because you couldn't get someone more like Eryk Graf at short notice, but I take it from my singular presence among so many, shall we say, competent people that you'll be having more than just one bookkeeping type?"

Morgue had to smile at that. "You mean they got you some students? Lecturing you´ve always been. Just now someone is doing notes and writng exams about it." She laughed out and took another turn. Then Ran talked about Graf. Another famous name. Probably not exactly one of her favourites. Had they ever ran into his people? Maybe. Hard to recall all the enemies they made, so it was better to assume everybody could be one.

Morgue stayed silent like the facility she was named after and with her hands at her belt she followed the group.

    Lazlo thought for a moment.

    "Slicing?" he asked at last.

Then the newcomer - was he to be working with them too? Or perhaps he was just lost. That made more sense. Lazlo knew his way around better than most, and even he found himself lost from time to time.

    Lyle Zahara
    Station, Corridors[

"Thinks nothing good can come out of digging up the coneys' secrets, and all that. But she'll come around once we get results, I'm sure."

"Don't see what the big deal is."

That was Lyle, trailing behind the group with his hands shoved in his pockets, his eyes wandering around everywhere except in front of him, and yet paying enough attention to not only hear those two sentences from their guide but form a response for it.

"Tech is tech isn't it?" he questioned. "They certainly had the better of it. I mean their ships could fly circles around ours and yet they had fancy lasers and shields that didn't seem to way them down at all. Would certainly prefer one of those more then the rust bucket that I was dumped with."

Lyle knew about the zealous nature of some of their fellow Corellians, damning the Rakata to the point of destroying everything that they had ever touched. Everyone had been afraid of their technology and yes, so did he. He could admit that. Crawling around in the dark as a child with a pack of improvised explosives on his back, nothing terrified him more or made him duck for cover faster then one of those ships that would suddenly streak through the skies at such alarming speeds. But with that fear was awe and dreams of Corellia and her allies possessing such ships and other tech that they had been unable to even look upon without the say-so of their Rakata masters.

Funny how dreams tended to be just that: dreams. Reality had literally smashed whatever dreams Lyle had with the hammers and torches of his own people. New Corellians...right. Last he saw before signing onto this mission was that Corellia was still buried in old wreckage from an old war. And they still had quite a ways to go.

Maybe that's why I'm here. To find something that actually is New.

Ducking under the exit hatch, Lyle resumed the tour along with everyone else while he thought of what, exactly, his purpose was in all this. Well he assumed flying of course but if he was only going to be flying people from point A to point B to uncover whatever tech and artifacts they could find, usually that kind of job offered a lot of down time that he could use.

Like repairing the ship. Maybe hit the bar here too. And repair the ship. Then find some parts to improve the ship.

Funny, he never really put so much effort into improving a vessel that he was given. Usually he would just be happy at the idea of flying. It was only with his latest vessel had he become so dissatisfied with the state of Corellian ships that he suddenly felt the need to improve his vessel with his own two hands. And maybe a liberated part or two installed by some bribed hands. Could be fun.

"Lyle, right? So you are a freelancer, too? In time we need to compare our paychecks!"

Lyle looked over to find that one of their number - Lisander - had stopped to focus on him with questions. Lyle only shrugged at first before replying, "Eh, if anyone needs a pilot I'm happy to fly for them. As long as I get paid enough to live long enough to fly another day I'm fine."

He was actually quite sincere about that. Lyle never had anything as a kid - especially money - and now that he had it he didn't know what to do with it. He'd be happy to just fly a ship, live on a ship, and fly some more.

Actually that's not a bad idea. Maybe somewhere down the line I could get some efficient quarters set up. Shouldn't be hard; plenty of room that I can convert some of it for more personal space. But I will need a refrehser too...and a kitchen...and a whole bunch of other stuff.

"Your lady friend said you two were Antique Uncoverer Experts?" Lyle questioned to Olic. "How long does it usually take for someone like you to 'uncover' anything interesting?"

    The station´s corridors

"Recover. We are recovery experts. that´s a big differenc,e you know? Uncover them is a lot of work. Piecing it together. A lot of searching, researching and soul-searching to do. You need guts for that. Because your chances of finding the stuff are close to zero. But your instincts hieghten those a lot. We did this a lot. found some mine on an asteroid near Selonia last month. Got, the mining drills alone were worth a fortune. Then there is recovery. Which means someone already has it. that is fater and usually a lot more dangerous. these people usually like to keep their things, no matter what little right they have to have it in the first place. And steal from thieves, for that you don´t need guts, but balls." He leaned over to Lyle and whispered so Morgue wouldn´t hear him. "And to have Morgue around isn´t hurting, too. Beautiful is she? Don´t fall for her girlish looks, a one woman slaughter house on legs. No kidding."

He took a turn and made sure the hatches behind them were not sealed, which usually indicated a trap. "So with these kind of artifacts as we are hunting them, I expect a lot of research will be done by guys like Ran and then my guts and will do the rest. The transport I´ll gladly leave to you guys then. And you should really renegotiate your paycheck. You seem to be a fine pilot. Make sure they show some apprciation for that. That is what payment is about!"

Lisander had once had debts and money problems and the Cheap Trick had cost him more than just money. Since then he had made and lost fortunes and by now was in a psoition where money wasn´t what he worked for anymore. He loved money nevertheless. And he expected loads of it for his kind of work! But these days he took the biggest check so he knew his partners knew . . . he was the best in business. That simple.

Hanging her head she pressed it against the bulkhead that shouldn?t be there. The fact that the signs for all the descents were cordoned off was depressing, it would mean she would have to go back the way she came to get to where she was wanting to go.

Making an about face she headed back the way she came. Then she stopped, the second stairwell had had a sign on it, and wasn?t tapped off. Perhaps that one she could take. As she was nearly it she noted another figure rounding the corner ahead. In fact a familiar figure backlit by the terrible orange that dominated this section. Perhaps the color is why one had called this place Lucifer station.

?That way is blocked, I was about to try this stairwell.? She left the question of whether or not he cared to come with her an open one as she tilted her head toward the door.
