    Great work Corran_Fett. I agree that the robe may be a tad bright but hell...Corran seems like that sort of flamboyant guy who'd wear it that bright, that or Mirax bought it for him (I think there's a reference in one of the books about Mirax buying Corran's clothes for him! LOL :D ) I probably couldn't bring myself to draw such a shade (only because I love everything muted and dark) so good on you for going for it! :) See how my opinion changes in the space of a post!

    Great manips, I still can't get my head around them being so seamless!

    Thank you all. I really appreciate the comments of you all... THX! :D

    Some of us take a little time to make our way all the way through the new pieces that come up! ;)

    As you wish... ok, next time I just wait ;)

    Actually it's quite "easy" to adjust tone and lightning with PS or so. ;)
    If I hadn't changed that for "Pilot Corran" his head would be totally sharp and to bright... - to I added some noise and took a bit brightness.

    Thx :)

    Well, that is Corran. At least in his beginnings as a Jedi. I guess when he gets older he reduces that as well ;)

    Quite often, yes :D -thx

    Thx... yes, he is :D - and you're right... in I,Jedi all his clothes were bought by Mirax. Even though I don't think she chooses his Jedi Robe, but I don't know.

    This is were artists have their own specialities and partialities...

    Again, thank you.

    I know nothing about Corran Horn, so I can't comment on whether he'd wear something like that, but I have to say, that was a skillful job turning that robe green. It actually looks like it always was that colour, instead of being obviously a digital alteration.

    [b]Today's theme: Back to the Roots![/b] [face_grin]

    I just found some of my first fanarts ever...

    More than a year ago, I made a photomanip about my username "Corran Fett". I took a fanart of helmetless Boba Fett, added an official lineart of Corran Horn's head and then modified some other stuff. I then printed the photomaniped lineart and colored it with pencils, scanned it and edited it on PC. I even made a (awful-looking) wallpaper of that then.

    [link=http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/2359/corranfettv1104yj.jpg]Corran Fett - photomaniped "lineart" with wounds and badges[/link]

    [link=http://www.daves-sw-rogues.de/corran_fett%20ava/CorranFettsw.jpg]Corran Fett - photomaniped "lineart" without wounds and badges[/link]

    [link=http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/6738/corranfettcolored255bo.jpg]Corran Fett - pencil-colored version[/link]

    [link=http://www.daves-sw-rogues.de/corran_fett%20ava/Corran%20Fett%20wallpaper%20V2.5.jpg]Wallpaper of the colored version[/link]

    Then I made two more photomanips where I first took a helmetless Jango Fett art from the comic [i]Open Seasons[/i] and then took a pic of Montross from [i]Bounty Hunter[/i]. I added to both pics two different heads of Corran Horn.

    [link=http://www.daves-sw-rogues.de/corran_fett%20ava/corran%20in%20mandalorian%20armor.jpg]Corran Fett - on Jango's body[/link]

    [link=http://www.daves-sw-rogues.de/corran_fett%20ava/Corran-%20Montross.jpg]Corran Fett - on Montross body, looking very awful[/link]

    And last but not least, I even made my own version of the [b]Rogue Squadron[/b] logo out of two other versions:
    http://www.daves-sw-rogues.de/corran_fett%20ava/rogue_squadron_logo.jpg

    Now, you see, this is my stuff from a year ago... I guess I have improved now pretty well, lol

    If you want to have the source pics for these photomanips, just tell me ;)

    The wonderful DarthKuk (here a link to his amazing art thread) has made a lineart out of my namesake! It is really awesome, and he just did it for fun.
    But anyway, here's the pic:
    [image=http://home.earthlink.net/~jkukovich/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/corranfett003.jpg]

    This is just soooooo awesome! Now I only need a colored version of him and the perfectness it complete :D

    Again, thanks DarthKuk

    Oh, cool, "early stuff!" It's always kind of a kick, to see what we were doing from just months or sometimes years ago (altho I usually conveniently "lose" all my early stuff, lol! ;) )! And isn't it cool you actually have a "face" to go with your username? Very cool! I like all of them--but the colored pencil version is my favorite--excellent use of color there! And the Rogue Squadron logo rocks! All the X-wings "smoking" away from the center is awesome!

    And DarthKuk did an awesome job with your character/namesake, too! Beautiful!

    Thanks for sharing the "nostalgic look back," Corran!

    Hmmm... I seem to see a pattern developing here. [face_thinking] You wouldn't happen to be a Corran Horn fan, would you? ;)

    Don't worry, I go a bit nutty over Luke. [face_blush] Everybody seems to have their favorites.

    I love all of your photomanips. You are very talented. I especially like the different camo designs you had on the trooper armor.

    Keep up the good work.

    Thank you, FF. Glad you like it :)

    Now tell me, how would you come to that thought? :eek:

    :p

    Indeed.

    Thanks, AG88 :D. Glad you like my stuff. :)

    My pleasure, CF. I love this work you have done, the original manips are sweet. But it was the nostalgia trip that inspired my sketch, those were pretty cool, too.
    Great work, hopefully we will see more in the near future.

    I just have gone thru a coloring-tutorial for Corel Painter IX. Well, I actually didn't even finish it... when I had done the half I understood the basics pretty well and started with my very first coloring. I have never used Painter before, nor any other coloring program. That's a totally new to me.

    So, I took DarthKuk's art and began with color in. Not in Boba's color scheme, but a scheme from an OC of me from my NJO-era fanfic Honor Guard (link in profile) about Mandalorians. Anyway, I'm now posting you the first WIP...

    And I must say, that's I'm pretty content with what I have so far... I never thought I'd manage coloring so easily:

    Corran Fett - colored, WIP

    Corran Fett - colored, WIP (more colored parts)

    Corran Fett - colored, WIP (now with golden parts)

    Corran Fett - colored, WIP (now legs colored)

    Don't worry about the grey/silver armor... it seems pretty colorless yet, but the golden highlights will follow soon ;)

    I'd really like some critics and comments on my first coloring-try. Thanks in advance. :)

    - Corran

    EDIT:
    Added the current status

    EDIT 2:
    Added the current status. I have problems with the golden parts... they don't really look golden...

    I'm going to redo the metal parts of his armor 'cause I learned how to make them look more like metal and will then continue.

    This is my entry for the Official Coloring Competition, Round 3.

    It portrays Ronan Barec, the main OC of my NJO-era fanfic Honor Guard about Mandalorians vs. Yuuzhan Vong. (Click here for link)

    [image=http://img418.imageshack.us/img418/3651/ronanbarec7ox.jpg]

    More about the character,

    Ronan Barec is a Mandalorian, born on Shogun in the Mandalore Sector. His father was a training sergeant of the Imperial Royal Guards and an excellent martial artist. Ronan was one of the best police-special-forces-soldiers back on Shogun, before he went to the Mandalorian Protectors, that were rejoined by Boba Fett. Ronan is an excellent shot with his sniper rifle, and also a good melee and close combat fighter, trained by his father and by a Noghri. When the Mandalorian Protectors show up again, he leads the Mandalorian assault on Dubrillion, on one of the Yuuzhan Vong headquaters in the galaxy.

    How about letting me know how to do that? I was going nuts trying to get a metal look for one of my most recent pictures of Jango. I painted in the armor myself and it was HORRIBLE! :p

    Any hints will be appreciated.

    I guess you're using Photoshop, right?

    Well, I use Corel Painter, so I can only give you some tutorials for PS:

    I worked with the last one... well, I actually didn't even finish it, lol. Here's one for metals (wroks pretty well ;) )

    I hope it helps you :) - You want to contribute to the Coloring Competition, don't you? The comp actually forced me to work on colorings... and I guess it worked pretty well *g*

    Thanks for the tutorial, Corran_Fett. No, I unfortunately I don't have PhotoShop. I am using a program that I paid $40 for at the store and only has a fraction of the capabilities. But maybe I can figure out how to do the same thing with my program.

    I appreciate your help.

    It is not just you. The boards seem dead the last few days. Is it Mid-Term time or something?

    Anyway, I read over those tutorials and they helped me... they helped me realize that I need PhotoShop and Corell Painter. LOL. :p

    I was fine drawing the metal until I got to step 5 where the fellow said, use "Painter's big round Liquid--just add water tool". So I look all around and I couldn't find anything comparable in my program. He said I could use the PhotoShop Smudge tool also. Darn, don't have that either. Then he said the Blending Tool can work also. I have that!!! Yea!! But either it doesn't work as well or I am totally inept at it. Let's just say I was not very successful at my first attempt at armor. Perhaps I should stick to drawing nudes. ;) Hey, it works for me.

    I have decided I will find a way to get photoshop and Painter. I think I have reached the limits of my current program and I can't improve because almost all the tutorials are geared toward helping people with those programs.

    Thanks for your help!

    Well, guess you're right...

    Glad they, uh, helped you... :p
    Maybe you should try the 30-days trial version of Corel Painter first. It's with all features, only for 30 days...

    http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel2/Products/Content&pid=1047023646661&cid=1047023647703

    It should really help you, and when you manage it, you can decide to buy it when the trial runs out...

    Good luck, looking forward to seeing your first work ;)

    Thank you very much for the link. I downloaded the program. It looks very interesting, but I can tell that it will take a while to master this program. But that is a good thing in a way because it means there is a lot that the program offers.

    Do you have Corel Paint? If you do, where is the Just Add Water tool mentioned in the tutorial?[face_worried]

    Thanks again,
