Coruscant could never fall...

    Coruscant could never fall? Just like the ring could never be destroyed? The sword could never be pulled from the stone? Or how about how the Empire never thought a star fighter could harm the Death Star? Fantasy/Sci-fi is all about insane 'never thought it could happen' events actually going down. The Hows and whys really don't matter.

    Coruscant is self-sufficient. Every tower supports itself. Every tower has its own water cycle and food porcessors, etc. So I'm not sure you could starve out anyone left behind, though with all the damage, resources would be spread thin.

    It's been clearly stated the Coruscant is NOT self-sufficient, and requires constant imports from other worlds; it's only real value is as a symbol.
