No Ekim! Bad! No biscuit! ;)

That helmet looks...off...I'm no expert, but I'd like to think you could find a more accurate one. I told you before, Sunrider Base is the place to go for the RFT costume links. :D

I found a Rebel Nerf blaster at my Woodland Target this weekend (the last one!!) and am working on painting it. Unfortunately, either it's something I am doing wrong or my paint, but it's not sticking to the plastic as well as I would have hoped and so I may have to do several coats. I also need to find some metallic silver spray paint to cover the nozzle. Did some more work on my shirt and it's coming along nicely, though I am wishing I had a mannequin to put it on while I am working, sewing it while I am wearing it just doesn't seem like a smart idea. Copy Red 3. Sundriderbase is indeed mecca for SW costumers. I'm probably gonna buy the RFT blaster, maybe the pants, and keep hunting for helmets.

The Rebel blasters have come out was well. But they need a paint job. They are a putrid green color! They have hit Le' Target now

I picked up one of the blasters and am working on re-painting it now, LDV. It's not taking the Krylon as nicely as I had hoped, so I need to do a second coat. Also need to find some metallic silver for the barrel and end cap.
I am leaving the trigger device on the back...cuz, as one of my trooper-brethren said this weekend, it's just fun to shoot foam darts at people! It's not quite canon, but it'll do for now.

Have you tried using Krylon's plasic paint?

Yes, I am using Krylon and it was still pulling away in some places...like water on oil. Maybe there was some residue left on the plastic that I didn't get off. I also didn't sand as I might have done. I can touch up the problem areas with some acrylic paint and it should be fine. The other problem is the clear plastic cap where the targetting light shows up. It doesn't look like you can remove it easily and you can still see some of the putrid green beneath it.

    Ahh well...like I said, fun prop...not quite canon. :)

Hey, what about going over it with a sand blaster real lightly? Think that would help the paint stick? I gotta run to Target after work and see if they have any- How much? $25? [image=http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_fx7_1b.jpg]

    Retail was $20.
You might try just very very lightly sanding it before painting. Very very fine sand paper would do. You really don't want to sand-blast this thing, just make it a little rougher to start out with. But like I said, I didn't and it's still coming out okay. Make sure to use Krylon, it's great for plastics.

Say Red 3- how 'bout drilling a small hole in in the little clear plastic cover, and trying to paint the interior with a tiny brush? A lotta work, but might be possible. DON'T sandblast-copy.

I suppose you could do that...though you might mess up the little light inside the cap thingy. *shrugs* I'm not going to worry about it too much. I wish I could go home right now and work on it though.
But alas, I must work to support my hobbies. O:)

I spoke with Donna from Sunrider over the weekend and she said that if you want, just use a hairdryer to get the clear cover off. They were having a "blast" shooting foam darts at each other! [face_laugh]

There's a thread on the blasters in the Costuming & Props forum:

    Thanks Matt!
I might have to try the hairdryer trick. If I can get it off in once piece I can paint the inside and glue it back on.

yeah or use a scrub pad to rough up the surface slightly to give the paint something to grab on to

OK Rogue 3, I purchased two blasters: one for working on and a back-up to remain in the box unless I need it. I will lightly "smooth" the surface to help paint stick. What was the brand or type of paint you said was best for the silver and black coloration?

I used black Krylon for plastics, although I saw that Rustoleum now has a plastic paint.
For silver, I just found a metallic looking silver spray paint... I think it was by rustoleum too. Nothing too shiny (not the chrome color). Go with "aluminum" color as it seems to match best.

Copy Red 3. Here's a pic from ebay, of a RFT blaster somebody bought, painted, repackaged, and is reselling for costuming purposes. Purposefully added the battleworn look.

Pretty cool, eh? I like that they left the pull hook on the back. Might as well, to keep it original. They askin $19.00 + $13 for shipping. Not bad, for a costume grade prop. Got 3 days left though. I'm curious what it will go for.

$13 shipping?!?! You can save yourself $10 and just buy it in the stores, buy some spray paint and have fun modifying it yourself....at least...I think it's fun. *still trying to get paint off of her fingers* :D
I'll have to post pics of mine *note to self: upload pics from camera*
