Time. I am getting really booked in April and May with professional commitments. But this "Official Costume Contest" may have to take presendence over them. :)

I went to lock down a hotel room. GAH!! it looks like thursday night is booked solid at most hotels already. Darn. Where will I store my ATST? <grin>

    Greetings Everyone,

If you haven't seen it yet, new details for the costume contest have been released.

    Check them out at http://www.starwars.com/community/news/2002/02/news20020221.html

The full list of rules should be released soon. Be aware that the contest is limited to the first 75 entries to be submitted by snail mail.

    Don't go, Jeff! It's a trap!!!

    *Stromtrooper pulls Comyn away*

    *Bounty hunter fires at Jeff*

Besides, if Jeff here goes, we haven't got a chance! :D

I see it says character or element from SW Saga. So do you think they will allow us who have created our own custom costumes based upon SW will be allowed?

I dunno, I think the "element" thing is related more to the talent part of the contest - that's what it seemed like to me. Making a COMPLETELY original costume - based on a character you've made up, most likely - probably wouldn't have much chance at winning simply because there'd be no reference to judge your costume against. How are the judges to know just how talented of a costumer you are?

Those are my thoughts, at least.

Why do I sense Jeff is going to fulfil a comment someone made about his bikes at DC2000 (*He'll probably bring along a full size ATAT/ATST at the next DC!*) ? ;)

Jeff has been mighty quiet lately.......I think he has been working on functional speeder bikes. That way he can ride them to Indy! :)

I wonder how specific we will have to be in our applications...and if we participate in a group entry, can we also enter separately as an individual in another costume?

I would e-mail one of the folks at the Celebration II and ask them. In the past they have always answered my questions quickly.

Well, here it is, straight from the horses mouth:
    Hi,

Your email was forwarded to me by Rob Bane. I'm the coordinator for the costume contest.

To answer your question: YES! You can portray a character from the Star Wars universe that you've invented.

If you have other questions or if you want to ask me anything more specific, feel free to email me.

    Thanks!

    Anne Brown
