Yes, all the silver pieces for both costumes are made with premo sculpey, fantastic stuff. Regular sculpey did not work. I also used it for the grip and another part on my lightsaber too. Thanks for the votes of confidence. As for under the skirt, I made a matching pair of panties but that's about it so Ihope it's warm in the convention center and thank god for the skywalk from my hotel!

SG-why can't you be there for CII?
I am sure my husband will love whatever studiocreations is coming up with...he is more into the armor making and weapons, and I into the costumes and makeup aspects-so together we end up making things together.
Mirax-I am sure my husband will also love your slave outfit...he he he

Alas, we can't make it because we shot our vacation budget on a big anniversary trip. That, and the first week of May is shaping up to have a plethora of other engagements for us. So, you wondrous folks will have to come back with deeply detailed play-by-play for me.

Now if everyone will just get down to Atlanta for DragonCon, I can guarantee an appearance. ;)

Surlygirlie can't make it... dang! I really wanted to hang with the Mistress of Mayhem at an official SW event. It won't be the same without you, SurlyG. I'll take lots of photos and video footage to show you later.
    :)

As for my brashness in my last post. Sorry. Normally I am more low key than that. I was just so darn happy to get over a major hurdle.

The SW Convention People emailed me this afternoon that the technology category has been canned due to lack of participant interest, I am being shuffled into the POT LUCK category. Bwhwhwhahahahahahaaaa

Yeah, I was bummed out too. I really was hoping to go up against like minded individuals. I was stoked to see the category up there.

I suppose I could muscle my way into the Hero or Villians category to with these costumes. The SWC2 staff was very apologetic and was asking what category my stuff fit into best.

    Fun Fun fun

I would definitely take them up on choosing your own category for yourself...it's not really fair to have them shuffle you off into something you don't fit into...I can't wait to see what you have done. How many entries do you have in...you said costume"s".
If you want to see some of mine-the sleeves, earpieces, and underskirt are on 2002 costume projects on page 9 or 10 I think-the embroidered sleeves I am working on now should be up sometime today on the last page-probably by this evening. I don't think I am going to have a full shot of it all together until after CII though...

    Now Jeff,

You don't want to be in the Hero category. I intend to win that one. ;-)

We have a group of 6 lined up, but a minimum of 3 will be in attendance definitely. If "Trooper Clerks" get's picked up by AtomFilms Fanfilm Competition then the entire Studio Creations gang will be in attendance, if not, then only a handful of us will be there.

I won't compete against your thunder, MaulW, I respect you too much for that. :)

    Hi Guys,

I need some advice. I just got a notice from Anne saying that the talent category has been cancelled and she wants to put me into Pot Luck. I could also go into Hero, but that ones's quite large. Anyway, I wanted to hear what you all might advise.

I'm wearing Padme's gold flowered dress. For my intro, I wrote a dramatic piece to set up my song. I was pretending that it was several years into the future and Anakin was already *gone* (however that comes about) and she didn't know where he was or how to reach him. Anyway, that was also what the song was about. All very dramatic. And I think it would have worked pretty well. But, they have also cut down the time allowed to two minutes and my song is longer than that. I don't know if I can edit down the song in some way to fit the time limit. Anne said they could just fade it out and that Might work.

Anyway, what do you all think? Should I can the song and just re-write my intro? Should I try to edit the song or let them fade it out? I'm really torn over what to do! Any ideas you all have would be much appreciated!

    Regards,
    M.

The hero or pot luck category should be fine-but that's a bummer considering what you wanted to do...
I don't know-I have never heard the song to tell you if you could successfully take it down to a verse or two to fit the time limit. Is the music taped, or are you singing live, or accapella? If you pm'ed me a little more about it I will try to help.
If the song is a storytelling one it would probably be better to write a new intro...how long have you worked on the song? Wether or not you want to include it also involves the costume you have-if you think it has a good shot winning alone-but the talent category was on talent-so I don't know how prepared you are as far as that.
Let us know what you decide...
Anne also emailed me this week giving me the okay to walk up with handmaidens or jedi escort as long as they register with me to release any pictures etc.-so if anyone knows any Coruscant/Maroon-Scarlet handmaidens not in the contest let me know-I'd love the have their services.

I don't know, I guess depends on how well you sing. You would certainly stand out in the hero catagory if you sang and did it well. How many are in potluck? I think Padme really should be in potluck but if you go with the song??? Gosh, this is a tough decision :(

Since it's a talent, I would think Potluck, but since your character is Padme, it is a Hero. I think the combo of both is more a Potluck. Just my opinion tho.
