    Yep.

My son will most likely be doing the parade with the RL in his Jedi gear. I just really hope that folks take this seriously and that all the costumes are top notch. Allen has really worked hard to make the whole deal happen to begin with.

I have seen pics of 90% of the costumes that are going to be marching and not one looks cheesy. and trust me, the Purple Jedi is showing up in her Tusken costume since we requested her to do so.

James, as soon as you all help me with financing a Mandalorian or trooper costume I will cross-join into the 501st. I really would like to be able to have a choice of costumes to march in for stuff like this. Maybe next year I can do 501st.

I havent seen what your son looks like and I thought that you had to be a certain age to be full RL approved. Also I havent gotten an RSVP from you for him yet.

Ah, Joel you forget that it is always the other 10% that ya have to worry about. [face_whistling]

Mandos are not accepted in the 501st. Gotta go with Jango or Boba for that. And from what I have seen of Custom Mandos that is a good general rule to have. Some of those guys are amazing, other's well...[face_talk_hand]

As for my son, you stood right next to him at the R2D2 thing. His gear is the exact copy of mine. If him being there is an issue I can come up with other options. Do you not want kids there? If so, it would be a good idea to let us know. Danny and I were discussing my son hanging out with him and his kids. I am pretty sure that the standard rules are that kids can participate so long as A) They have a proper costume(not a off the shelf deal) and B) Are being supervised. Like I said before, it is a maybe for me anyway, I know he can handle the march most likely better then I can but there are other factors as well.

Sounds like we are in a bit of a pissing match here. James/Joel, feel free to call each other to work out the details.

Y'all know how I feel about this. Rebel Legion members should dress based on their organizations standards and the decisions of the RL as to what is allowed (kids?) and what is not. Discussions on that should be held in the RL boards, not here. If the RL shows up with substandard costumes, or multiple face characters, thats their business, and should not diminish the impact the 501st has. If anything it will speak to the quality standards the 501st has in costuming and presentation if anything. I just don't think what 501st members thinks of the RL costumes should have any bearing on them, unless they are also RL members. In that case they can work that out internally. It is fully reasonable to think that two different groups will have differences in how they want to represent themselves in this parade.

If our cross members (note I didn't say crossdressing members...) stop being cross with each other and take this passion and energy to help each group grow, then both groups will be better off for it due to the cross-pollination of ideas and standards. (Hmm... alot of crosses in that run on sentence...)

I just don't want this forum to degenerate into a 501st vs. RL b!%@$fest. As former CR (wow thats the first time I've gotten to say that... cool...) I've been privy to way too many issues related to this on other Fanforce boards across the world, and trust me, it's not productive to the goals of this group.

What's next? Protesting the clowns in the parade because their costumes aren't up to Barnum & Bailey standards?

Joel, I was kidding! Did you notice I went on to remark how great the costumes looked and how the Parade would change people's mind about the Rebel Legion?

Here I go. I need to figure out a way to keep my head bandages from "puffing" out like that, but here's my Tusken:

And me maskless with my girlfriend. Still haven't convinced her to do a Tusken female:

    LMAO

You dont have to worry about us Joe....James and I are like bickering siblings.
But James you might want to check with Rick on the Legion standards for kids marching at events. When he sent me the PR FAQs from the RL it had a piece in it that stated:
"What are the membership requirements and how do I join?
There are only two requirements for membership. First, you have to be age 18 or older
(19 in Alabama). While we welcome and encourage all Star Wars fans to costume and have fun,
we cannot be responsible for minors at our events or for having them associated with us in case something happens. This is unfortunate but necessary."
I dont personally have a problem with him marching, but I would ask the CO about it since I dont think he is 18 and it is a Rebel Legion event.

bbetteridge...love the Tusken....we have one marching with us at the Christmas parade in Decemeber but could always use another. PM me for the details

Seriously - since when have Legion politic been part of FanForces agenda? If you don't like something about one of the Legions then complain about it or comment about it over there keep that crap off of these forums!

This forum is just about the love of all things Star Wars and getting together and having fun (without the politics). This forum is not about the Legions charters...

    Take it someplace else!
