JGofC - That sounds cool. Sometimes I wish I had gotten an art degree rather than computers.

I've been planning on doing a costume of Lumiya. She's quite an interesting character and I found some great metallic lycra material to do her bodysuit with. She's got quite a bit of body armor and I was thinking about using leather to do it. I'm hoping to have this done for Celebration3 - I'm kind of thinking long-term project here. ;)

I got the ear piece thing worked out, and the ridges on the top of the flight helmet, but I can't get the fraggin' blasted pieces to go together now

Deep cleansing breaths, in with the good, out with the bad AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I'm gonna draw it out and see if anyone here can give me some ideas, please :) :D

    Preliminary Pattern

What I need to know is how to sew the topside & underside together and still be able to sew the sections together. Any help would be hot :)

Yes! Get high quality fabric, high quality spring steel boning (that polyester stuff sucks), be VERY patient, and make sure that the pattern fits.

Good luck with it though, which pattern are you using??

JGOC: Simplicity pattern #5726, it has the corset, chemise and petticoat. I think it's a relatively decent one.

Good suggestions btw...same ones the fabric goddess here in Flagstaff had.

Okat, anyone who is doing a Rebel Commando, start drinking pre-mixed Kool-Aid in those cool round plastic containers (at least two containers worth per helmet).

    I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE CLOTH FLIGHT HELMET!!!! :D :D :D :D

    First Picture :D

Yay! Good job Jenn... it looks great :D I'll start working on the Kool-aid :D

Great pattern choice JW. I'm also using a Simplicity pattern, but it is 7215. I'm using some advanced instuctions for it found here Farthingales

JGOC: I thought about that one too, but decided I needed a little more experience before tackling that one since it is more complex. That Farthingales site is very cool! How is it coming by the way?

In other words college students :p

And the corset is coming along well...all though the hand sewing I have to do on it is tedious [face_plain]

luckily (or not?), all the clothing stuff on the ghostbusters costume can be bought.

however, that means i've got heavy prop-making ahead. i already have almost everything i need. the real problem now is convincing my grandpa (the only person in my family who has *good* power tools) to cut out the pieces of plywood i drew out. he tends to think everything's going to be a hundred times more difficult than it really will be. ;p

i'm still so stoked about this costume, though! i've been watching ghostbusters almost everyday for the past week. it's *gasp*... competing with my star wars and harry potter obsessions! never a good sign for someone who already has more obsessions than she can handle. :)

so the question is now, if i have time, should i do *all* the props? you know, ecto-goggles, PKE meter. *sigh* it's so much fun being a nerd. :D

*scampers off to watch ghostbusters again*

Younglings could also be high school students, like me.

I need to know what kind of material to use for the soft parts of my jedi costume, shown on pg 1. such as the tunic, obi , and pants. And should I use garbadine or cotton for the cloak?

Also, for my fanfilm, I need to know what fabric to use for a sith costume, being the robes and the forearms with a wrapped up look similar to the SOTE sith luke. Also, I need to know which fabric to use for a stiff looking cloak.

hey Kev.. since im the sith :)
heres an idea for the arm wraps... dye gauze
    yes..medical gauze..
then use it to wrap the arms.. it would most likely look good..
unless you cant dye it for some reason.

Get me a pic of Lumiya.
If the armor isnt too difficult, my brother-in-law works with kydex.
black PVC like plastic, heat in oven, acts like rubber. Let cool. You have armor.
    NOT CHEAP though.

Can someone please repost the links to the guns and other props so that we can print them out to bring to the get together?

    or

Is there already a folder at Voids with the instructions?
