    I figure that this topic needs its own thread, instead of staying in the "Daily Life" thread.

    ---------------------

    Well, yesterday I almost finished my Jedi outfit, minus the boots, belt and pants. But I can't seem to find the Velcro I got to connect the obi. Now I will have to go back to the store and get some........OH MAN!

    I think this is a great idea. And to kick off this celebration here's the coolest photos that I have of me in my costume:
    [image=http://www.freak23.com/jedi/grumpydevil_costume.jpg]

    I picked up that Silk Noil today and will be handing that over to my seamstress tomorrow. It's gonna look great...and I'm going to be using the same kind (different color) for the rest of my tunic...in two color schemes. Check it out:
    http://www.freak23.com/jedi/jedi_colors_decision.gif

    With the two schemes, I can swap out the tabbards/obi and have "more costumes." [face_thinking]

    Great! I, for one, cannot wait to see it. Here are the photos of that belt I have been blathering on about:
    The wide shot:

    The faux buckle:

    The real buckle:

    Wow, nice job on your costume! Maybe this thread will inspire the me to finally get started on putting something together. Id like to lose some more weight before I commit to something though (sigh).

    It that you in that photo? It look just like Obi-Wan himself. Are you sure you just didn't download that photo from the www.starwars.com?

    You have some cool colors happening there. I can't wait to see it.

    The belt looks good. Yes, I would love to have it. It looks really good already, I don't think I would need to do much alteration.

    Good job Crashdown. I was going to do something like this due to some recent interest in completing my own Han Solo costume. I have the vest, shirt, and Battle of Yavin medal already. My boots are on order, German soldier type. Looks very nice and were not expensive. Thx Grumpydevil for link. I have a seamstress working on the bloodstripes for my close enough blue pants. Next is to purchase a german mouser pistol and the add on parts to complete the blaster. My brother-in-law makes leather holsters as his hobby and he will make my Solo belt/holster. That will complete my Solo outfit and I will be available to Troop for up coming events.
    SW Costuming is cool, and getting together in costume would be even more fun. Just something to think about for any future events we can do.

    Yeah! Star Wars costuming IS cool! :-B

    Seriously, I think it would be hilarious to have you two show up (and maybe another Jedi or two) unannounced at a public event where I'm trooping with the DST. I could play up the whole "I seem to be outnumbered" angle and then my rebel/jedi cavalry comes barging in to take control of the situation...Hahaha.

    I know I'm taking an awful risk with posting this to a public forum, but hopefully none of the other DST members will read this :)

    Great looking pics there Kyle, I cant wait to see everyone else costumes. Im upset though, I want to make or buy Luke's brown/tan outfit from TESB. I found a website that sold tons of replic costumes from the movies but when my mom canceled AOL, it erased all of my favorite websites and I forget the web address :( Guess Ill just have to build a time machine and go back in time to play Luke myself. :)

    I'm not sure which one you're talking about, but I'll try to help. There's a site called Star Fortress Productions. I have heard mixed reviews about them (mostly bad). They sell the fatigues for $125
    http://www.starfortressproductions.com/swtherebellion.html (just look for "Degobah" - note the misspelling)
    * I'm not telling you to buy from these folks, but they are the only resource I know where you can buy the fatigues.

    Now, I know that the fatigues are not all of the costume. You have to get a hold of the boots and the belt and probably a lightsaber, too.

    This thread might help you out:

    If you want to make the thing from scratch, here's the pattern:
    http://www.dawnandersondesigns.com/RTW_Falcon_Jacket.htm

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks for the site, I think that is the one I used to look at. As for the other things, I have a force fx lightsaber that Im going to take apart. One thing that is cool is that I saw the Luke ROTJ lightsaber FX lightsaber at the mall in Springfield. It was beautiful and I wanted to get it but I couldnt. :(

    PartsofSW.com is great if you're looking to re-create the OT costumes (since so many costumes were cobbled together out of real-world items).

    I've considered making a Bossk costume and that site has been invaluable in my research. If I was going to attempt it, I'd make sure to do it the right way. Bossk has been my favorite bounty hunter since I was a child and I would definitely want to make him happy. Aside from getting all of the pieces (or at least replicas of those pieces), I'd need to sculpt my own head, arms and feet.

    I'd be willing to try that, if I had more experience - or friends who have that sort of experience. Actually, I'd someday like to make a fully realized Godzilla costume as well.

    Going to pick up german mouser pistol this weekend. Will post when I have it in hand. Solo Bloodstripes had to wait in line, seamstress had a wedding fitting rush. No prob for me. Boots haven't arrived yet, maybe this weekend. Hope to have all these ready to wear/show for Jantzen beach Comic show meet Apr 22.

    I Picked up the replica mouser today. Oh, the joy of finally holding it in my hands. I was so excited to bring it over to my brother-in-law's. He took some measurements of me and of the pistol, and I brought over some close up pictures of the holster so he has good references to get started on making the holster. I can't wait intil it's done.

    Ehhxxcellent. So I'll make you a deal...if your costume is finished by the Jantzen Beach collectibles show, I'll definitely wear my Jedi gear and bring T'Igor in his clone outfit :)

    This won't be a clause in the agreement, but crashdown, you have to be finished too. ;)

    The holster wont be ready 'til the end of the month. But I should have the holster, pant bloodstripes, & boots to complete the outfit to wear to our next meeting.

    How real does the mauser look? I have a cheap $20 looking one. Its allright, I just wish it looked more real. But Im sure once I get it upgraded, whenever that will be, it will look good.

    Besides the ESB Dagobah outfit, I also want to make Luke's ceremonial outfit. Ofcourse I think the biggest problem would be finding that jacket...talk about 70's all the way.

    The mauser is a replica, and looks totally real. The hammer pulls back and the trigger releases. The bullet casing discharge chamber opens, the barrel and magazine are sealed shut. It's made of metal and is heavy. The company that made it is called Denix and makes all kinds of decorative gift articles and replica weapons. I can now defend myself against those peskey stormtroopers or from a slimey bounty hunter.

    So is this what you are getting?
    [image=http://website.lineone.net/~braithwaitej/mainsite/overview/guns/mauser.jpg]

    And what, pray tell, will you be doing for these?
    [image=http://www.partsofsw.com/RangedWeapons/images/firemuzz.jpg]
    [image=http://www.partsofsw.com/RangedWeapons/images/hwdialyt3x.jpg]

    Do you already have them? Just curious of course. And, hey, since what you're getting is basically a pistol (albeit and old pistol), will you have problems with carrying it in public?

    You could use snaps or ties or some other type of hooking method...

    Well, my tunic uses velcro. Hmmm...can't your kid go get it for you:p ? (only kidding of course)

    The pistol is exactly what I have. The scope and flash suppressor pieces I will order from a site that makes those, Blast-tech is the site. They make saber conversion kits also. As for carrying it around at events might be a hassel as it looks so real. There is a colored plug in the barrel end, but I could color zip tie the trigger to guard it from "firing".
