    Whats wrong with Porkins?

Your a big guy... get over it. It's just to have fun. :) Besides do know how many people would LOVE to have their pictures taken with Porkins? Just think about all those babes. lol [face_love]

I say you just do a basic Jedi seeing that it's easy to do. Plus you'll problemly feel better about being in it. But untill you get past this big thing you have going on I'm not sure what to till you to do. It's your call. I think you'd make a great Tie Pilot. The suit is all in black and thats slimming. [face_whistling]

You can all ways do the mando with everyone else. They come in all shapes & sizes. That way you can do your own size, color you name it. You know I'll be more than glad to help you out with whatever you desided. The only thing is I've knew you now for over 5 years and your still desiding. lol

    SeeYa,
    TK

PS> At least your not SHORT like Brandon. [face_tired]

Working our yard sale as I type...hoping to use the funds to get a drimmel so I can get back to work on cutting my suit. Would love to have it done, even in just plain white, for the movie in August...

I told U Steve anytime you'd like help come on by. lol

Me and Brandon started up the New Vacuum form machine the other night. lol The new vacum could suck the paint off a buick. lol [face_hypnotized]

It was awesome! We only worked out one new mold .. but it did come out great. We were able to fix a few things and work out a couple bugs. lol [face_alien_1]

All and all it was a good run. We now know a little better how to cut the molds we need and we'll be all set for the next run. Which should be this week.

Nice one! What you gonna do with the mouse droid? Fit it to a RC car?

I might be interested in one of those if you are batching?

    Oh no...

I hope there was NO problem? Richies... I thought was know to do good work and take care of any problems right off. I hope it all works out for you.

The mouse droids will be done in batchs. I'll hopefully have the first batchs with pictures up some. Andy it is the same model that was used to make the mouse droid I have know. I'm pretty sure you've seen it.

And yes... all you'll have to do to it is drop it on an RC car. Paint it how ever you'd like and add the few details. Which I may even be working on models for them as well. lol We'll see. [face_dancing]

    Later,

We'll see, was going to review the two helmets for the Rebel Legion UK base, but wanna see what Richie says first before I have to work on them.

I would be interested in a mouse droid. Let me know how you get on.

James, thought I would pick up your tusken costuming questions on here, rather than in the mando-specific weekend forum. I do have a website with a pattern for robes and helmet assembly. it seems good for the robe pattern and mask decoration, maybe not so much for movie accuracy though.

I wanted to write a comprehensive review on two Helmet Kits professionally assembled and made by Richies Armour so pilots in our base could have a place to source a superb lid over inferior afforadble Rubies helmets.

    Boy was I so wrong.

First and foremost I believe that it is important to continue with the review to show you guys what you would expect in way of quality.
As we ordered two helmets, I can't think of a more accurate way to come to an overall decision rather than just review one helmet.

    Review:

Both assembled helmets arrived in a large box and filled with protective foam. I was rather impressed with the packing methof Richie chose as the helmets were even cling filmed to reduce possibility of kit coming away in transit.

At first glance and to touch the helmets come accross as the real deal. Sturdy construction at first glance and a lot more rigid than a Rubies.

    Mic

    OMG!

Multi core bit of cable even with the cores sticking out of the back!!!
The mic hangs and does not sit in position as the cable does not have the tensile strength to suppor tit's own weight.

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/CIMG2505.jpg

A rigid larger diameter cable could have been used and not a flex!

Even as I removed it from it's secure fixing (velcro wrapped around the cable) the mic tip came away and looks like it was held together with hot gule (now I'm thinking to myself I hope the helmet is not held together with hot glue and he has used impact glue)!

    Visor

Can't really complain about the visor itself as it is made well and looks the part!

BUt, theres a but! The visor is not the only thing you can see when wearing the helmet as the lids were not assembled symmetrically:

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2504.jpg

At one side you can see the bracket which the visor bracket fits on:

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2512.jpg

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2501.jpg

On the other side there is nothing:

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2513.jpg

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2502.jpg

    Chin strap

When trying on the helmet, this was the first thing I picked up on.
The chin strap has no adjustment and felt like it was going to take my head off lol!

    Construction

From afar the kits look nice assembled and really do look the part of a proper pilot helmet.

Unfortunately from an arial view one of the lids Mowhawks resembles a banana more than a uniform stripe! The kit looks twisted and assembled extremely poorly.
This helmet did not have the Richies signature in it which surprised me and I wondered wether the money I paid extra for Richie to assemble went to a non- professional labourer?

Little things like the front cap not being straight can make a difference!

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2503.jpg

And not even secured flat to the helmet and even with hot glue:

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2508.jpg

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2509.jpg

Nothing really seemed to marry up correctly and I don't know if it is just me but from what everyone says about Richie I was expecting a work of art!

Instead I got a mottled poor quality kit:

    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/J3D1_KN1GHT/RICHIES/CIMG2515.jpg

    Which resembled both an orange:

    And a Banana:

Here's an updated pic of my armor. I picked up some fabric for the flak vest, too. Hopefully I'll have the time to mess with that soon. It's starting to feel like its coming together!!

Good news. I was able to get somewhere with my metal armor. Thank you Shelly for letting me borrow the snips. They made all the difference. Anyway I started with the back piece. I cut it and bent the edges in so its not sharp. I also did my best with those little wholes up by the shoulders. I think its where the back pack strap goes. I haven't shaped it yet other then rounding up the back a bit. still have to shape the shoulders, neck area and sides.

Thats awesome Andy!! I'm glad they're working better for you. We used the grinder on mine to get the edge off. Do you have a dremel? Maybe one of those attachments could do the same?...
