Don't have a costume to share (although there are several things in the works) so I thought I might bring up the subject of "posing". More of our members are putting together and wearing costumes at events and you'll find you'll get a lot of requests to have your photo taken. Before you step out that first time do some practice poses in the mirror. Ham it up a little. Maybe even have someone take some test shots with a camera. Know what to do with your hands. I know it feels silly but it really will make a difference in photo quality. Which is the better pose/picture? This? [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Celebration%204%20-selected%20photos/BGjufsadub.jpg] or this? [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Celebration%204%20-selected%20photos/BGfdbthd.jpg] Who has the better General Kenobi pose? These guys just standing there? [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Costuming/042.jpg] or this guy? [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Costuming/146.jpg] you can see this young lady knows how to pose with some smuggler swagger [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Celebration%204%20-selected%20photos/BGfdnggh.jpg] Notice how one hip is cocked, the non blaster hand rests on the belt and she has a smirk instead of a smile. this young girl can't be more than 6 or 7 but even she knows how to strike a pose! [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Celebration%204%20-selected%20photos/BGdghst.jpg] So put a little planning in your posing and you'll be very happy with the results.
Thanks for the pep talk and instruction here Mika. I think most people who are not used to taking these kinds of pics feel funny working it... but I must admit it, I can not lie... When I got used to it, which.. (clears throat) .. happened very quickly... I loved posing for pics at Conglom... and yea, hamming it up sure makes for better pics. I loved the attention, it felt great. And you are soooo right, as I was very pleased with the results.
I just seen the photos of Darth Cyrins finished costume for the Dark Empire... woe! Congratulations Darth Cyrin Night Sister! Impressive job on that! Could you post some pics here for us to see? Really very, very nice work.
Why thank you Zannah!! Here are some pictures of my completed Nightsister costume. First I'd like to say hi and welcome to nocturnus and cyrin! I haven't been on these boards in a bit due to school work and a world of warcraft addiction (lol) but now that I have recently graduated I will be on the boards a lot more and look forward to meeting you both. Cyrin, that is a great costume! Good work!!
I know all too well the world of Azeroth LOL! I look foward to meeting you too Xanatos! Welcome back and congrats!
Congats Xantos! Hey Zannah, check out this picture gallery I found: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Images_of_Darth_Zannah Hope it will help you on your costume. Not that you really need any help my dear, Jammies
Thanks Jammies, yes I had seen all of those before. In fact, it was Zannahs armor from the cover of "A Rule Of Two", that I used as the basis for my own armor. The only real change I made, was to add the baldric and Paldron with the Sith Logo on it. And for Bane, take a look at these... Appo is going to make one kick butt Bane... Leh-Sigh.
After ordering Star Wars style boots from Museum Replicas last September (!) they finally arrived on my porch this week. My review? They're nice but I wasn't blown away. They're kind of thin and worn looking. Maybe that's "authentic weathering" or something since a lot of the stuff they used in the original films was military surplus. The most important thing is that they fit. I've wasted money on two pairs of surplus jack boots that were too small for me so overall I'm happy. It also came with boot hooks which is a nice touch but they fit so well I don't even need them. [image=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/jedimika/Costuming/233.jpg] Maybe someday I'll get the Obi-Wan stunt saber and Imperial Officer uniform I have on order.
They look great Mika! Are they the Imperial Officer Galactic Boots, Obi-Wans, or Anakins? It's hard to tell in the photo, but they look like the black Imperial Officer boot? Niiiiiiice!! I can't wait to see what the uniform is going to look like, as I'm wanting a couple of those myself. One for me and one for Bane.
Yes, they are the Imperial Officer boots. I should have mentioned that. I really got them to upgrade my Han Solo costume. They're a little high but they would also work for pilot boots. Of course they would also make good Jedi or even Sith boots as well. I think I'm going to get a lot of wear out of them.
Cool! Yea, when I read about them in the catalog, it stated that this same boot was used for Luke, Han, the Imperial Officers, and many other of the characters in the movie. They are versatile indeed. Excellent purchase there!
Ok, I am getting there and am almost complete. All I have left is my vest and padding/mirrored visor for the helm. I also need to dye my pouches and figure out if I am going to go with a backplate or a cape after that I am ready to rock! Here is a lil taste, I'll try to put up some more pics this weekend... Love it! And it even looks like you have some Blue Moon Squad colors going on there. Can't wait to see the rest.
