I'm putting together a Vader costume right now, have a fancy dress 30th to go to in a couple of weeks so thought I'd finally get my A into G and sort it out. I've had the helmet for ages (Don post, the cheapish plastic version) and I've customised it a little, chopped the 'v' off the front between the eyes and added some tusks to the front where the silly silver stickers were.

looking for ideas and tips for the rest of the costume, ie chest box and belt boxes. any ideas?

sounds complicated, i only have 2 weeks.
What I will probably end up doing is just making them out of cardboard or something similar. then when I have a bit more time, 'upgrade' to aluminium boxes. I might still check out dick smiths for the switches though...

    thanks for that.

I've been finding countless templates/reference pics on different sites. unfortunately most of the parts have to be made from scratch (if you want them to look anything like the actual thing)

well im about 90% there, just the codpiece and a few bits to add to the belt.

Still havent found any black gauntlet style leather gloves, there were some on Trademe but they were expensive, so I'll settle for my driving gloves for now (can always add longer cuffs)

Everyone dreams every time they sleep ... for around 1-2 hours for every 8 hour sleep period. Most of the time you don't remember them, though, which is why people think they don't dream. Anyone ever had Star Wars dreams? Those are the best ;)

Can't wait to see the costume, Chans :)

    > Anyone ever had Star Wars dreams

Before both prequals, I had recurring dreams that I went to the cinema to see them, and that they were really awful. I wish I could remember the actual content of the films-within-the-dreams because they were really quite funny. I remember that in my pre-Episode II dream, the whole film was set in a house and looked like an Episode of 'Days of our lives".

I guess this means my subconscious doesn't have anything better to do!

Where on earth did you come up with those figures?!

I've slept for less and dreamed. For instance; on the field trip the other week on the bus comming back from the west coast. the night before we we on the turps and on the way back I had a killer dream and when I woke up my mate said I'd been asleep for about 15mins.

I always have dreams, though it usually takes me until midday the following day for me to remember them, when they just pop into my mind or something triggers a familiarity. But to remember a dream, the dream must occur just prior to you waking. So, ACE. Set an alarm clock for 3am one night and wake up unexpectidly, and you might just catch a dream. :p

    Anyway... costumes eh?

edit = lol STH. Na, can't say I've had a SW dream, that I remember.

Not even the one when Carrie Fisher (as she was in 1977) or Natalie Portman comes floating though an open window of your bedroom at night?

I made them up on the spot, like 67% of statistics. Seriously, look up an online/ real life encyclopedia if you want to know for sure.

Just because you dream for 1-2 hours in an eight hour sleep period, doesn't mean you don't dream during a 15min sleep period.
