Could Anakin Skywalker have been saved from the Dark Side?

its just that this is like her 20th poll and she's been here for 2 weeks! Its pointless too. She could have brought this up in the Random thread.

This isn't my 20th poll. Besides, I haven't put up a poll in a couple of weeks. It's also a good question and it would be great if you guys could act serious for once in your lives.

 

This is a question best asked after Ep.3 comes out. After we know exactly how things go down.

 

I did answer it seriously, if (once again) you paid attention to the movie you would see that him being way too horny caused his movement to the darkside.

umm..is it just me or didn't ROTJ cover that?..he was saved from the dark side by lukie boy. redemption. big theme in the movie.

if you mean could he somehow have been prevented from falling in the first place then no. that boy was on a downward spiral. he had some anger management problems -tantrum inclined- was immature, selfish...he was like a child still. even without the death of his mother he was already headed down that track. and we all know the "once you start down the dark path...forever will it dominate your destiny." he was already in too deep

No matter how great it would be if he could be saved, I have to agree with Mara. The jedi may have had a better chance if he never fell to the dark side, but he did. The only way he could have been saved was if the jedi had found him before he turned one year old.

 

Actually, everyone who voted "No" is already wrong. Anakin was saved from the DarkSide by his son Luke aboard the Second DeathStar.

And he could have been saved before that anyways. Having Yoda or Mace train him rather than Obi-Wan, for one. Obi-Wan went from Padawan to Master in litterally a moment. A more expierenced Jedi Master could have taught him better, even Kenobi thought as much.

 

Well he was saved, but I don't think he could've been brought back in the sense where he didn't have to sacrifice his life...that sorta thing. He threw the Emperor into pit or core or whatever, and but those electric bolts destroyed him. The only way he would be able to be saved is by something like death.

 

For the love a.... I meant, could his fall to the dark side when he was a Padawan have been stopped.

 

Well, I think the question was more directed to 'could he been prevented from turning to the dark side?'

Good point though, I agree if he had a different master he would have been much better off.

What if Qui-Gon had trained him?

The Star Wars galaxy would be so different. Luke and Leia proly wouldn't even exist

 

But the empire probably still would and the galaxy wouldn't be in so much turmoil at its present state(Vong and all).

 

Anakin wasn't saved at the end of ROTJ. He was just upset that all his planning to overthrow Palpatine was about to be undone with the death of his new apprentice. He got mad and through his Master down the shaft.
