ST Could Rey's powers have been 'bound' as a child?

This explanation makes sense to me. If Ren unlocked her powers during his interrogation of her, that suggests her powers may be been 'locked' when she was a child, most likely person would be Luke doing the binding. This would have been done to protect her or keep her secret from those who could sense the Force. She could have been too young to remember this.

I got this idea from the TV series Charmed, where witch children could have their powers bound, rather than removed. Then when they are old enough to use the powers, they are unbound.

    What do you think?

I agree. I think whoever brought Rey to Jakku might have suppressed her memories and power so the Knights of Ren would not find her.

Here is what I think might have happened. Rey was an exceptionally gifted prodigy at Luke's academy. As the son of a Skywalker who exhibited "Vader-like" tendencies, Ben arrogantly believed it was his birthright to become the most powerful Jedi. As such, he became envious of Rey's abilities. Snoke exploited this jealousy by offering him a way to become more powerful. In exchange, Snoke commands Kylo to prove himself worthy by recruiting knights of wiping out the Academy. Outnumbered, Luke takes Rey to Jakku.

I didn't get he would have been jealous of her. More in awe.

So she locked away her own powers? Or she just forgot about them? I'm not sure how she could just forget them, even as a child. I'm also wondering why Snoke didn't find her by tracing her strength in the Force, being able to 'feel' her.

Yes that could all be possible.

And leaves her in the care of someone like Unkar Plutt? Really?

Luke and Unkar were college roommates. He's rough around the edges, but a really great guy once you get to know him.

Oh well that's a rather big hole in that theory, but that's another topic.
Let's focus on the locking of the powers.
If they were unlocked by Kylo, how did they become locked to begin with? Perhaps Rey shut down her own force sensitivity at a young age? I think it more likely that someone locked them for her, at least I think it is a possibility.

Did Anakin use the Jedi Mind trick during the podrace?

Did Luke use it in Mos Eisley?

Fair point. Though I never claimed it was perfect. Like all speculation, it simply might have happened.
