I already have the trilogy on video, and I don't want to buy the DVD for something I have already, so can someone tell me the scene names in ROTJ?

But... I read someone saying about how their fav moment was called the Dark Side beckons, A.K.A. Luke vs. Vader. He must have got that from somewhere...

I'm not sure but I think "The Dark Side beckons" is a listing from the soundtrack.

OK, so maybe one scence has been named. Maybe it's a fan name that won't make the names in the DVD. Maybe it will.

For comedy gold value, silly Amazon left out 'The Dark Side Beckons' (the subject of discussion here) on that track listing.

It (and 'The Emperor's Death') are both part of Battle of Endor II.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

The reference could also be for RotJ on Laser Disc.

Yes, they do exist. They were produced in the late-80' throught the mid-90's.

Criterion Collection was excellent in producing great quality Laser Discs and were the predicessor to DVDs. They did not produce the OT LDs.

It could be likely that since the original saga was produced on LD that the scenes did have chapter names.

It should also be noted that that track listing reflects the new names given to the track for the Special Edition CD releases...the non-SE soundtracks (such as the SW Trilogy Anthology) have the original titles.

see if you can get a copy of Star Wars Insider: The ROTJ 20th anniversary

it has photos and descriptions of lost scenes, in particular one called, "the sandstorm" which happened after they blew up Jabba's sail barge

I imagine (and hope) that it is included in the dvd

I've seen the SW trilogy on VCD being sold.(Early DVD literally means Video Compact Disc, for viewing on a computer.)

However, VCD's are absolutely terrible quality (particularly the helium-sounding voices and soundtrack)- your better off with widescreen VHS or, even better- Laserdiscs, if your looking for a DVD alternative.

The specific title of "The Dark Side Beckons" is not from the ROTJ Special Edition soundtrack release, but from the Anthology release many years ago.

This may seem like a silly question, but why WOULDN'T you want to get the classics on DVD, even if you DO already have them on VHS. Those tapes will die on you eventually (I know mine are starting to go), and DVD's last for YEARS and YEARS.

    Heh, no kidding.

My ROTJ stopped working (well the sound played like a really bad record and the video was going screwy) so I just bought a new version last year. :D

My original ANH and ROTJ are very degraded. My SE tapes are still in good condition though.

Binder: Of course your work great. They only deteriorate/stop working well after you've played them hundreds of times.
