"Star Wars" fans mark your calendars. Twentieth Century Fox has announced Thursday, May 16th, 2002 as the release date for "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack Of The Clones." The release will come a week before Memorial Day, and a day before the most movies in North America usually open. Fox execs say the release stunt will only add to the grandness of the event. Citing the fact that many territories around the world release films on Thursdays, Fox's domestic distribution president Bruce Snyder tells "Variety," quote, "because 'Star Wars' is such an international phenomenon, it seemed to make sense to go out on a standard date in as many places as possible." Moviegoers will get their first glimpse of what's in store for the new "Star Wars" flick this Friday. The new trailer for "Episode II" will be unveiled following screenings of "Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone."
