Who needs CS when you have the allmighty DoD?!?!

 

Have any of you seen my Counter-Strike wallpapers? Like the one that was on the official CS website for Christmas?

What's the difference between the CS you can buy in the store and the version you can download for free off the net?

and MAPS, there is a couple maps that are not in retail.. and guns are not the same names in retail.

 

So I assume that you recommend the free version?

Otherwise, I will stop by Best Buy and pick up the retail version, which is on sale for $19.99.

if you have cable though.. pick up half-life it is fun as well.

 

I have the retail version. I downloaded the extra maps and AA gave me the gun names, so it's the same. I don't have half life so I needed it.

 

Are you saying that CS is only a good online playing experience if you have a cable modem?

Or are your referring to the download time for getting the free version off the net?

 

Cable modem makes it more enjoyable...

not a must .. but a good plan =)

 

Make sure you get the Game of the Year Edition of Half-Life, and not the new Platinum edition, because the later comes bundled with the stupid retail version of CS.

Can someone (maybe AA?) give me a black & white answer to whether I should buy the retail version or download the free version?

If you already have Half-Life, download the free version. Lamers only use the retail version.

 

If you already have half life just go download it. it's free. duh.

 

I guess that makes me a Lamer then, huh? Only reason I bought the retail is because after attemting to d/l it 3 times, I got a corrupted file message every time. Not to mention that it takes a looong time to d/l on 56k.

But as I said before, who needs CS when you have DoD?!?!?!

dod is fun.

 

I prefer Multi CTF for UT myself, some of those maps are just plain crazy. And I can't wait until the SAS mod comes out
