    I have recently gotten into My Name Is Earl, I love the show because it is funny but it teaches you a few things about life too. While I was watching the show last week I started to imagine what Earl would look like in animated form. It was really easy, I finshed this in under ten minutes:
    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/earl.jpg]

    And I also drew Scarecrow in a Nightmare Before Christmas style, he's cute and creepy at the same time!:
    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/SCARECROW.jpg]
    This was just a quick sketch, sorry if it is a bit blurry it was very small. I think I am going to make it creepier by adding a few victims to the picture!

    Sorry I missed your last update, -Courtney---these are great!

    I especially love Earl--you captured his physical characteristics very well in an animated style--anyone familiar with the series and the actor would immediately recognize him! Scarecrow does indeed look scary--something about that frozen grin... ;)

    Any new SW pieces in the works? I'd love to see more of your Timm-style SW characters! The Anakin piece was so well done--have a go at a few more!

    I haven't been drawing much since Earl. I am currently working on a picture of Murdoc from Gorillaz though.

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/almightytallest.jpg]
    More Invader Zim art. I love the Tallest...They, uh...Sit around and eat snacks all day...Yeah...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/batgirl.jpg]
    While I haven't done any other Star Wars Bruce Timm art I drew myself in his style. This was drawn awhile ago as I mentioned it before. I have fixed it up a little bit since then.

    HA!! I knew you couldn't resist! The Batgirl/Courtney piece! =D= Loving it! Very nice work on it, too! I'm unfamiliar with the character in the first piece, but I really like the shading work you've done on it--nice dark darks, and good detail to it! Well done with this one, too!

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/scarecrow2.jpg]
    I really love this piece, I know I am starting to say that too often. I kind of made a few mistakes with the shading near the hand but I suppose I can fix that somehow if I really wanted to. I think it looks like a comic book cover which is pretty cool even though I had no intention of doing so when I started this. Doing gorey and horrific images are fun maybe it's because of the reaction it gets from people who see it. I am going to make a model of Scarecrow when I find some clay. That will be something a little different from drawing. I am also pretty good at sowing but I find it too frustrating, so i don't do it often.
    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/murdoc.jpg]
    I love the Gorillaz, I was adding a few of their songs onto my iPod the other day and I felt like drawing them again because I haven't in awhile. Out of all the little doodles this is the only complete piece I did. Murdoc is awesome and has always been my favourite band member.
    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/batgirl-1.jpg]
    Just a quick little sketch of my version of Batgirl. I realised after I had finished it that it would have looked cooler if Batman was in the picture.

    I too like the "comic cover" piece of Scarecrow (it is a little gruesome--but this is what villains do! ;) )! It has a sort of dizzying perspective to it, sort of like we're hanging in mid-air, looking down into his lair and glimpsing the hand of his poor victim--an excellent effect, that! The sort of two-toned color is also good, emphasizing the...more grisly aspect of the scene. I like this very much! And your Murdoc piece is also good--a very nice caricature of him (I'm unfamiliar with the person, so don't have a mind's eye image to compare it to). I like his sort of manic grin, and his slouchy stance! And the Batgirl drawing is fine just as it is, I think--adding in Batman would actually draw attention away from her, and I get the feeling she's supposed to be the focus of the piece. So I wouldn't add anything to this one, if it were mine--I think it's great just like this!

    I am so proud, I actually made something out of clay. And what's more it actually looks like the picture!:

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/scarecrow.jpg]

    Spooky red light effects!:

    Sculpting now? Wow! I don't think I've done that since Play-Do days as a kid! This looks great--lots of detail, and yes on accurately capturing the character: it looks just like him!

    I fell in love with Jonn after watching the Justice League animated series. I already knew him from reading the comics but I didn't really care much about the character. Bruce Timm's version is adorable and Carl Lumbly did an excellent job providing his voice. An African accent suits him so well.

    Will we be seeing any more SW art from you, -Courtney-? Just curious, as it's been a while since you posted any... :(

    I haven't really been that inspired to draw much lately, particularly Star Wars. I have been drawing a few doodles of character expressions like Obi-Wan, Batgirl, Jonn and Thrax but that's all I have done in days.
    Right now there isn't much going on concerning new Star Wars things so I haven't seen anything that inspires me. Plus I have been spending alot of time just practicing lots of different styles. And life gets in the way too.
    The last SW thing I posted was the Bruce Timm Anakin, that was a few weeks ago. I will try to draw something as soon as I can.

    Your fascination with gore is beginning to worry me a little, -Courtney-! :D ;)

    The Slade piece is very cool--I really like his pose here: he really looks quite relaxed, particularly the hand he's holding up. Very nice!

    And Johnny is...well...rather gruesome! lol! And I understand he's supposed to be... Very "artistic" use of color there...I don't think I want to see the results of all that blade-swinging, though! [face_sick] ;)

    Hope you get inspired by SW again soon (you might try watching the movies again, or perhaps read some of the comics coming out--that might help)--one thing that always gets me going again is to browse through the work of the other artists here, and on other art sites; or to plunge in and read some of the great fan fiction out there. Those can be rich sources of inspiration! Looking forward to more!

    You wouldn't be the first to say that. I have discovered that I enjoy the reaction I get from violent, gory images. I am getting the reputation of being an "emo" as my peers call me. I guess I do like that sort of art and music and clothes and...They may have a point.
    -----
    I just remembered that I drew a pre-cyborg Grievous a few days ago but I haven't finished it yet. I like how it looks so far and I will definitley post it on here. I also drew a picture of Nightwing, my mum didn't believe that Robin could grow up to look so hot. I am talking about Batman's sidekick just in case you didn't know.
    -----
    I am so proud I created my first real comic today. I used to make them all the time when I was younger but they were crap obviously. Normally I can't write something original if my life depended on it. I am told that good stories just pop into your head out of the blue, those authors were right. Looking back at what I have written so far it is basically all the things I like mashed up into one.
    It is called "Cillian Of The Murder" which includes a demon who isn't really a demon, a dark lord who isn't Satan and an Under-Land that isn't Hell.

    It's about a guy named Cillian who accidentaly kills his friend Dean who is actually a demon. He is sent to Under-Land where The Prince Of Darkness (who looks like Alice Cooper) sentences him to spend an eternity of suffering for having killed one of his minions. Cillian thinks quickly and offers to take Deans' place as a demon. The dark lord agrees but erases most of his human memories.

    The title is because other than minor abilities all demons posses he can talk to and control crows. He has a pet crow named Murdok. The more souls he collects, the more powers he gets.
    One day there is a terrorist attack on Earth so Death (who looks like Vincent Price) is very busy and leaves a list of souls Cillian must collect. If there were any names in blue they were halfway between life and death. of course Cillian doesn't know this so he goes and reeps the soul by mistake.
    The soul belongs to a girl named Harley who is in a coma from being shot in the head during a robbery at a petrol station. She wasn't taking the robber seriously and was being really sarcastic so the guy shot her just to shut her up and to prove that he could use the weapon because she kept saying he couldn't. She will eventually be Cillian's girlfriend. She spends most of the series fading in and out of the after life while she waits to be judged.

    The art and humour (black comedy) is much like that of Jhonen Vasquez. I was kind of thinking of Johhny The Homicidal Maniac when I wrote this. I was in class, bored as usual looking out the window at crows too. As you can probably tell already there isn't actually any reference to Hell or Satan or anything like that. It's all my own version of it.

    So I can finally start my own webcomic, like all those other ones I have read for so long and wished I could do the same.
    I'll post the issues here, probably won't get started until the weekend.

    Here are a few sketches that were lying in my drawer from last weekend (the only time I get to draw) I want to finish these, let's see how my schedule works out. It's funny because I went from having absolutley nothing to do, to being so busy I can't fit anything in. It's not the first time that has happened. I am getting a part time job soon too which could effect my art even further.

    Cillian, drawn very quickly with a crappy marker:

    Congratulations on starting your webcomic, -Courtney-! I'll bet that'll be a challenge, to do the writing and the illustrations! One of the reasons I know I could never come up with or sustain one: too much work! lol!

    The main character is well drawn--very stylized (very much like Johnny), very bold. And I don't think it's "crappy" at all! ;)

    Excellent studies of Nightwing (I always liked that character too--it was great to see that he carried on with his mentor's traditions!)--watch the proportions of "superhero bodies:" the shoulders look a bit narrow in these. Take a look again at the tutorial here--go through and look at the basics and how the figure is fleshed out in progression. I think the face is right on the money though--great capture there!

    The Dr. McNinja gives me the shivers! **hides under bed** Creepy, but well done!

    And I'm going get really excited and rave about your pre-Grievous Grievous! I love this piece--what a great illustration of the being in the "before:" wonderful "rangy" body, just as I would have guessed, and the facial "tusks" are just beautiful--great perspective and placement. I could so see you finishing this one with some dramatic shading and more detail--please consider it! Wonderful!

    Very nice work!

    Yeah, I was mostly focusing on Nightwing's face. Then I quickly sketched his body, I don't normally find figure drawing difficult but I was doing it really quickly and didn't know how big to make him. I will do a complete picture as soon as I can get a new fineliner, it just barely coloured Cillian in.

    Dr.McNinja can indeed be a very scarey man. He learnt that from Batman!

    When I was drawing Grievous, I looked at a range of reptiles and even took a little reference from Predator (mostly for the tusks and skin patterns). I didn't want him to just look like a human with an alien head, like most sci-fi creatures are, he needed a unique sort of look that suited his fighting style. I decided to make him tall and slender like alot or reptiles with long limbs just like his cyborg ones. His body is almost featurless like that of a gecko or a snake.
    Fortunatley, there was also a pre-cyborg Grievous picture in an issue the Insider magazine, although he had a mask on I could still get an idea of what he was supposed to look like.

    Thank you for those comments, I feel inspired to keep working on Grievous now. I might even do a full picture of him so you can see his legs and feet which look alot like his cyborg ones with out such large talons (although I do like drawing them).

    Thank you. I even got my brother interested in the series with that picture. Before he thought he was just some crazy loner who drew Happy Noodle Boy comics all day. He didn't realise how violent it was. The again he only saw a few scans on the Internet. It's always fun drawing blood, you can never have too much!

    So here is the final product of pre-cyborg Grievous/ Qymaen:
    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/qymaen3.jpg]

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b175/DarthCourtney/qymaen2.jpg]

    I wasn't sure which one I liked more, so I posted both of them. The darker patches on his eyes are cute and alot of lizards have them. But his whole body having more variation in colour makes more sense.

    Wonderful work on Grievous-Before, -Courtney-! =D= Nice choice of color for him, too--very interesting! And I think I like the second one, with the darker coloring around the eye--using natural and animal references for SW aliens is a great technique: I did this when I drew Saba Sebatyne, a Barabel Jedi Master. I can see the lizard-ness in the eye tones of your drawing--very nice work! And I agree with the smoothness for the torso/body--I think this is a good choice too (and this is actually the fun of doing something like this, where interpretation can really free your imagination--you can do it however you like! :p ). I'll be looking forward to seeing a full-body image of him now--maybe in a sort of coiled hunter-type pose!--go, girl! :D ;)

    That is wonderful. [face_batting] I love Harley Quinn. [face_mischief]
    And so is everything else. The Grievous/Kaleesh pics are really cool. I am in awe. So many of these look like they came from a professional. I do hope you save these drawings somewhere. They would make a great portfolio for the future. :D But I'm sure you already know that. [face_peace]

    Look forward to more drawings, I do. [face_batting]
    I also have one little request. [face_worried] You know that cover for the "Leering Creature" comic? Could you color that in? I think it would look fantastic in color. Just that cover would be nice. Of course if you don't have time, that's cool. [face_peace]
