Another wicket. 15 runs from 37 balls with 5 wickets in hand. One would expect that Ireland can get the runs but it's a funny game Cricket...

make that 4 wickets in hand

And Ireland reach their target of 305 runs! Can they get in to the top 4 teams of pool B? I'd like to see that!

Next game is Scotland v New Zealand tomorrow. Will be keeping a keen eye on Scotland and hope they perform well this tournament as I will being seeing them play Australia in Hobart in 4 weeks time.

they are pretty useless. they are missing a few key players, and Gayle really isn't as great at 50 overs compared to 20/20, but still.... Ireland. really?

NZ v. Scotland today. Can't take any team lightly, but I'd expect some resting of key players today from the NZ team.

was more than a little surprised when i woke up to see 7 wickets lost. hopefully it's a bit of a wake up after the ease of the sri lanka win.

The theory is they were trying to accelerate their run rate, to help ensure a favourable placing in the draw going into the semis. Which is why there were a few to many catches on the boundary after slightly mistimed 6 attempts. They managed a RR of 5.5, which does presently have them the best of their pool. But they looked like chumps doing it.

So Afghanistan were unable to chase down Bangladesh's total of 267 yesterday.

Will Zimbabwe be able to chase down 285 set by U.A.E. today?

Zimbabwe reach the total in the 48th over.

As epic suggests there are some 'real' games coming over the next few days...

Friday: New Zealand v England (in Wellington)

Saturday: Australia v Bangladesh (in a potentially very wet Brisbane) & Pakistan v West Indies (in Christchurch)

Sunday: Afghanistan v Sri Lanka (in Dunedin) & India v South Africa (in Melbourne)

Speaking as a Brisbanite, I think you could take the "potentially" out there. The weather up here is truly miserable. They'll be lucky to even get on the field, let alone play a full game.

England in all sorts of trouble at 7/114 after 30 overs. Make that 8/116 in the 31st over.

Tim Southee now has 6 wickets for 30 runs in his 8th over.

Edit: Southee has another one! 7 for 31
Ahem... England all out for 123.

Edit: I can't imagine the logistics of organising an event like this but I find the scheduling odd. In Pool A this is New Zealand's 3rd match (England's 2nd) with the other teams only having played one match so far...

New Zealand are currently 57 runs without loss after 4 overs (McCullum on 48, Guptill 8)

Will they get the remaining runs before the dinner break in just over 20 minutes?

Heading to the break with 12 runs to get. The rules need to be looked at here I think. Actually I don't understand why the don't take the full meal break at the end of the 1st innings.

McCullum 77 from 25 balls. Beats his own fastest 50 at a World Cup record!
