And as expected the match between Australia and Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball bowled.

 

As expected Sri Lanka dispatched Afghanistan, but it was fairly close in the end. Only a handful of balls to spare. The big surprise was the thrashing India handed out to South Africa, who were tipped as tournament favourites.

Unsurprisingly though England were able to best the Scots.

Some smaller matches over the next two days:
Tomorrow: West Indies v Zimbabwe (in Canberra). Both teams have won one match and lost one match. I expect WI will prevail but Zimbabwe hopefully won't make it easy for them
Wednesday: Ireland v United Arab Emirates (in Brisbane). Only the second match for both teams. Ireland will want to show that their performance against the West Indies wasn't a one-off in a bid to make it in to the knockout stage.

So Ireland came through with a win in the last over against U.A.E. yesterday and Afghanistan did the same against Scotland today.

Sri Lanka are currently having a bat-a-thon against Bangladesh

Reading only Scotland are below England makes me sad they couldn't topple the Afghans today, I assume they'd have leapfrogged England with the win points?

 

Yes but then Afghanistan would be below them. Still having England being the worst cricket team in the British Isles would be comedy gold.
