We left during the 2nd rain break. Bit of a task sitting in the exposed stands, in the rain, watching 2 teams you don't really care about.

They almost limped to a win but yeah that was very poor.

Two questions from me in regards to the England team... How likely is a return for KP now? Who captains England from here?
Quietly very keen for the Ashes now!

Oh well, the UK can still support Ireland and Scotland.

Oh dear England. The best thing about the match (other than the England loss of course) was the social media banter afterwards.

Snowball's chance in hell. If nothing else, he hasn't played enough cricket to warrant a recall.

Eh... good question. I suppose the one to ask first is, how many players actually have secure positions in the team at the moment?

You're not the only one. :D

So I attended the Australia versus Scotland game in Hobart. Was a shame about the wet weather but otherwise a fun night was had.

With the Poll matches completed we now have the 4 Quarter-Finals:

South Africa v Sri Lanka on Wednesday at Sydney
India v Bangladesh on Thursday at Melbourne
Australia v Pakistan on Friday at Adelaide
New Zealand v West Indies at Wellington

    My prediction for the semi-finals:
    New Zealand v South Africa
    India v Australia

Really taking a chance with those predictions, Rebel. Also, does this mean the groups stages was the final?

Ahem. Edited post so your second sentence no longer makes sense.

As far as my predictions go. I actually think Sri Lanka v South Africa will be a close game. Depends on whether just de Villiars shows up or the whole SA team does and if they can shake the chokers tag. Also SL's top four Batsmen are performing well.

I will be watching Australia face the Jekyll and Hyde Pakistan...more potential for a good game than against Ireland I'd have to say.

First Semi Final just over 2 hours away. NZ vs. South Africa. Too close to call. NZ bookies have SA as slight favourites.

    Argh!

I guess because of experience. NZ have been in better form though

So after a very frustrating rain delay that has shortened the match, South Africa reach 5/281 after 43 overs.

Now here is the part that makes no sense to me; New Zealand require 298 (not 282!) from 43 overs for victory with the D/L method taken in to account. But that's just it! Why is the D/L method being considered at all at this stage? I thought it only was taken in to consideration if further delays prevent NZ batting 43 overs...

D/L into account on any rain shortened match. It takes into account wickets gone, and also that we could bowl out our frontline bowlers, but SA can only bowl 8 or 9, not 10 overs with theirs. And other stuff...
