    "CROWDED House, one of Australia's biggest musical exports, is re-forming for a world tour."

    Dirty Auzzies!

    Is the majority of the band, Australians or am I right in believing they enjoy stealing our things?

    edit: well, they are a bunch on convicts, right?

    Well, one Kiwi, two aussies first up. Then 2 kiwis, 2 aussies. Then 1 kiwi 2 aussies and a yank.

    All the while based in Melbourne (except for the first year or two in LA).

    They're a multinational band with a Kiwi singer/songwriter. ;)

    Started out 5 (or 6) kiwis. Ended up 4 kiwis 1 aussie and a pom.

    Based in London and Melbourne for the most part.

    Certainly more "Kiwi" than Crowded House.

    I can't help but think that this is a very cynical move on Neil Finn's part. Whilst there's no question that Neil was the driving creative force of Crowded House, I feel that Paul Hester was the heart and soul of that band, and that any incarnation of Crowded House could only ever be "Neil Finn and friends". It just seems like a blatant cash-in on the nostalgia market to me. (And also, I was under the impression that Neil had a brand new album in can which was to be released in April. Or will that now be released under the Crowded House monikor.)

    Was away all weekend at Clapton, just got back in time for Waters. Now I have a few moments to catch up here...

    As for your cynicsm - I think the Finn-Seymour interplay was at least as important as the Finn-Hester. I have felt a certain spark lacking since Neil went solo, both in the albums and the live shows. I hope that Nick's (and to a lesser extent Mark Hart's) contributions can recapture whatever it is that I've found lacking. Perhaps it's getting rid of the, uhh, earnestness and bringing back a bit of the fun. I dunno.

    Also, this quote of Neil's is pretty cool;
    So there ya go, Neil Doesn't blame you Lawrence.

    Me, on the other hand... :p

    And this from Fan Club guy Peter Green;

    JP - that quote from Neil is a good one. And I _am_ glad Mark Hart is involved, as I thought the 4 piece dynamic with Mark was really great circa "Together Alone". It's funny ... I find I pretty much never listen to Crowded House any more, apart from "Together Alone", which I'd still rate in my top 5 NZ albums of all time. I saw Don McGlashen play at Takapuna Beach on Saturday, and he was brilliant, and I was reminded that, despite being lesser faves at the time, I actually listen to The Muttons Birds a hell of a lot more than CH these days.

    CROWDED HOUSE WEBCAST AND COMPETITION

    http://www.farewelltotheworld.com/

    Be amongst the first to see and hear the newly reformed Crowded House line up in a VERY intimate setting... your own home, in front of your computer. Crowded House have just about finished their brand new studio album "Time On Earth" and are now rehearsing before taking the new band on the road for the first time in 10 years, starting with the Coachella Festival in California on April 29. The band are currently rehearsing near Bath, in the UK, and they'd like to introduce you to their new drummer. This Saturday 17th March, the band will be performing new tracks and old favorites for a special live interactive webcast at 10pm GMT (3.00pm Los Angeles, 9.00am Sunday Sydney, 10.00am Sunday NZ), through www.crowdedhouseofficial.com. The band will take time during the performance to read out comments and answer questions from you. You can email your comments and questions for the band now to questions@crowdedhouseofficial.com and the band will answer as many as they can.
