Books CRUCIBLE by Troy Denning: The Official Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

Hey, most of (if not all of) the NEU book covers we've gotten are better than 90% of the EU covers between 2005-2013.

 

That's what I meant, sorry. Yes, the covers for books this year/end of last year have been pretty good.

 

Whoa, how come they get so much more awesome cover art than what we got? As mentioned it wouldn't have made up for the awful content but still, way better than the American cover art. I was wondering why this thread was active again, but yeah, that's something worth posting about.

I can't see anything either. And I really want to live in this world where Crucible's cover isn't terrible.

 

And where its content isn't equally as horrible?

Damnit, now I'm really curious! I haven't even read Crucible, since I became extremely selective about EU reading for a few years ... and it doesn't sound like I missed much.

That's it, though it's incomplete. The back cover shows a ruined hangar with the remains of a lot of ships lying around.

 

Yep, that's it. I think they must've used an image of Mark from the past year for that, because that's a dead ringer for how he looked during filming for Episode VII.

 

OH SO NOW THE EU GETS BEARDED LUKE.

It only took the entirety of its lifespan and THEN SOME.

That is a very nice cover, though.

 

That is so cool, why didn't the English market get such a nice cover? I really hope Luke wears traditional Jedi robes in TFA.

Bearded Luke on cover = move more copies (once the great unwashed masses are informed via trailer that Luke Skywalker will have a beard in TFA). Hurry up and print that cover for North American paperbacks for the fall, Del Rey! Move like hotckaes! Well, lukewarm cakes.

 

Last time I read through FOTJ, I imagined Luke with Mark Hamill's "filming VII" look, with the longer hair and beard. It made the whole series more enjoyable (notice: it didn't make it good, just more enjoyable). Also: Domhnall Gleeson as Ben and Andy Serkis as Gavar Khai helped.

 

Poor Han. Luke gets a beard, and he still can't even get out of that vest.
