Well, I'll try to appear more consistent: I dislike the first cover, but think the second one is a vast de-improvement. Plus, I'm anti-excited about the book itself, which doesn't help anything.
i like this one actually i like both maybe the first one is for paperback while the new is for hardcover
I can live with the new color, but the first was better. I just really hope the Big Three disappear from the story after this, but disappear in a way that they have a happy ending too.
So Luke's the crucible that's going to split Han and Leia up... at least that's what the new cover is doing for me. Much preferred the first one. (Maybe they realised the three orbs gave away Trioculus's return too soon.)
Is it sad that Han looks better as Harrison? This is supposed to be the future, man! Or the past. Or whatever.
Soooo... why is it so important for them to use that crappy original image? There's an entire reference book full of new art coming out, could just ring up Darren Tan and ask him if he wants to make some extra money or something? It kinda looks like crap in the first place. Shuffling things around in photoshop won't fix that.
I don't like the cover at all, much prefer the original temporary cover. I'm still reading this regardless.
All the covers for this book have been awful. But breaking up the original image for a bunch of awkward headshots in some kind of LOOK THERE ARE THREE CHARACTERS lineup makes a bad thing worse. Trust me, you really do not want to show off this terrible rendition of Han any more than you have to.
I think that I'll buy it in Hardback - then I can shuck the dust-jacket with the cover pics and file it away in some cool and dark place!
Ugh...who thought it would be a good idea to split the cover up into three equal portions? That's a design no-no. There's nothing appealing about that cover at all. At least the first cover had the full artwork visible and a half-decent composition. Here's hoping the guts of the book are much better...
I'm really curious about who does their graphic design, I mean this is just horrific. It looks like one of the execs said "oh my nephew loves playing around in photoshop, he's really good at it, let's give him a go"
not really, I think this is a new low point. At least the FotJ ones made sense in a way, wheter you liked them or not. They were consistent and had a clear graphic language. This one is just taking a mediocre illustrated cover and chopping it up for no reason to create a tryptich of awkward old faces staring at you. Its just bad on an entirely new level.
