Now that VIII has come out I thought it would be a good idea to see what your favorite CT fights were!

Worst: Battle of Endor, Sorry, but I wan't very interested in it.
Best: Death Star Battle, Both the final confrontation between Luke and Vader and the Millenium Falcon destroying it were superb

So what's yours? Comment down! :D

The Battle of Endor was okay.
Worst: Obi-wan Kenobi vs. General Grievous. I fell asleep halfway through the battle, and my brother had to wake me up.
Best: Cloud City, the second confrontation between Luke and Darth Vader. It was interesting to watch Luke's natural skill and compare it to the final battle.

Favorite is easily the space battle over Endor, but Luke vs. Vader 2.0 is beautiful too. Least favorite is probably the Battle of Yavin...the tension is amazing and it's really well done but for some reason I never find myself as drawn into it

    Best - Luke/Vader in ESB

The other two OT duels were not great, but not bad. And equal. Same with Yavin/Hoth/Endor.

I’d say worst is any of the combat related to Han’s rescue and the opening of ROTJ.

I think the space battle in Return of the Jedi is the best space battle in the entire saga.

The Battle of Hoth has been, since I was a little boy back in the '80s, my favorite Star Wars land battle, and now, 30-plus years later, despite the great Battle of Scarif in Rogue One, I still think Hoth is the best. I loved it so much when I was a kid that I couldn't wait till winter to play with my Kenner Hoth TESB figures in the snow. I didn't have a snowspeeder, but that was okay. What I really wanted and I remember asking my mom for was the AT-AT, but I never got it. As such, my Hoth battles always missed the essential element that would've made it truly awesome. Ah well.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble down memory lane.

Vader v Luke on Cloud City is a work of art. The music, the visuals, how savage Vader is (blowing Luke out of the window with the Force and swinging wildly with his sabre). And of course the revelation about being Luke’s father. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Although I love Luke and Vader's second duel, in ROTJ, and the Rey vs Kylo duel in TFA is near and dear to me, nothing will surpass the Luke vs Vader duel in my favorite Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back. All great lightsaber duels have an undercurrent of emotion and this duel is heavy with it. Mark Hamill does a great job playing Luke barely controlling his fear. I wasn't quite a year old when Empire was released in May of 1980 so I could only imagine what the audience reaction was like watching these scenes.

I don't care much for the battle on the surface but the space battle at Endor was pretty awesome. As a huge fan of the spaceships of Star Wars in particular it was like porn when I was a kid. It was the biggest space battle in Star Wars until the prequels came along. There's a Death Star, capital ships and most of the fighters in the classic trilogy motor pool flying around mixing it up. And that was the only footage we had of some of those fighters in action. It didn't have as good of a narrative as the Battle Of Yavin or as good of a musical score but it was great if you wanted to see spaceships blowing up other spaceships or a Super Star Destroyer crashing into a Death Star. And who wouldn't? Plus.... Lando blowing stuff up.

Best Space Battle: Battle of Endor
Best Duel: Luke vs. Vader in TESB

This may sound weird, but I can't really think of a worst other than the ground battle of Endor. Some parts of it were good, particularly when Chewie and the Ewoks commandeered an AT-ST. However, if the Ewoks were portrayed as more ruthless and bloodthirsty, I would have been okay with it. I don't have a problem with the Ewoks in principle. I just have mixed feelings about how they were depicted.

I agree with Satele, Ewoks would have worked if we has seen them plowing through Imperial fire in wave attacks that buried the stormtroopers and left heaps of dead Ewoks on the ground. But that would be too dark for the kids in the audience.

Funny, but there was a PBS documentary on last night that documented Iranian Human Wave attacks with children in the 1980 Iran-Iraq war. Now I have the image ingrained in my head of scores of young Ewoks bombed and gassed in massive heaps of fur.
