Okay - watched Superman IV last night, because I've never seen it and was curious. I'm stunned at how BAD it is!! It's truly, TRULY terrible - I find it hard to believe that Christopher Reeves wrote the script for this atrocity, let alone starred in it. Wow. The Phantom Menace should've won a screen writing Oscar compared to this horrible, horrible waste of film.....

Did you guys see that new Koto McQuarrie Vader vs. Luke concept art statue set??!! OMG!! I can't wait to buy this baby - it's gorgeous! It will especially go well with the framed art I got as an Xmas gift :D

    Hoooorrraaaawwwwww!!!!!!!!

My embroidered bloodstripes got here today!!!! They look fraking' AWESOME!! Definitely worth the cost. I can't wait to get them sewn on to my pants, and cover up those poor iron-on things.

I'll take some close-up pics for those of your that have expressed interest. Also, I have no complaints about the company I ordered them from. It took 1 week to process/ship the order, and another week to arrive by Global Express. I was charged $25 for shipping when it only cost about $7.50, but whatever. I think it was worth the (extra) cost to get such SWEEEEEEET bloodstripes. I ordered 2 red on blue sets, and 1 yellow on brown. The second red set I want to try to dye the blue to black, for my black pants. Gool-ol' sharpies or some other permanent black marker (recommendatioms?)

While listening to a collection of 60-some music files, in a pack of Star Wars stuff I downloaded, I came across a Metallica rendition of Star Wars (various themes mixed together). It's frakin' awesome!!

That Metalica track was used in Dark Forces commercials and the game itself

Heard that one quite a few times - it's great!

On another note, I took a friend (because she begged me) to see a couple of 'chick flicks' this week.

The Pursuit of Happyness - not the greatest movie. A bit on the long side. I don't know that I felt inspired by it all, but the kid was really cute. Will was okay, but I've seen him do better.

Dreamgirls - I'm not really into musicals, and this movie just reinforces my reasons for not seeing them. Pretty mediocre. Not sure why it's nominated for so many Oscars, but I can see why Jennifer Hudson was nominated. That girl is AWESOME! Everything from her singing to her acting was great - she gave me goosebumps everytime she sang. I really hope she wins. Beyonce, as per usual, overacts (this isn't a music video), strains her voice in a weak effort to make it seem more powerful than it is, and she doesn't emote at all. She has dead eyes everytime she sings. The rest of the cast is pretty ho-hum as well. Can you tell I didn't like this flick??

Smokin' Aces is next on my list, as is Epic movie.

I'm looking forward to Hannibal Rising and Ghostrider. Those are going to be fun. I've also seen a couple reviews on AICN about a movie called Teeth. I won't discuss it here, as it's not family friendly subject matter, but I'll just say it's a guy's worst nightmare. On a lighter note, Knocked Up with Seth Rogen looks really funny.

About 3 weeks ago, after a long search and several emails, I was unable to find anything suitable, so I decided to embark on the design and fabrication of some custom greaves, to match my bracers.

To save time and money, I decided to see what I could find (free) for the armor shin plates. I couldn't find any steel pots (and that would have used WAY TOO many dremel discs anyway), so I found a large heavy plastic bucket and cut the plates from that. Now, I had to replicate the (look of the) stainless steel plates on my bracers. To do that, I applied aluminum tape, and tried 4 different types of sand paper. I eventually found one that worked pretty good. The look isn't too bad, except close up wrinkles in the tape can be easily seen.

Last night, I remembered a website I found last summer, and did some investigating & researching.......and some ordering. I now have on order, some custom-cut, 2mm thick stainless steel plating!! Can't wait for them to get here. Now, I have to remove 16 rivets on the one greave I have assembled. And then I'll have to give the new steel plates a slight curve, grind the corners to curves, and drill mounting holes.

Lots of work, but having actual steel plates (to match my bracers) will be WAY cooler, and better!!!

Also, the leather I picked up, is "armour grade", being in the range of 13-15oz. Although, I won't be treating/hardening the leather.

    No pics yet.

Tragedy has struck! That is if you were planning on seeing the Killers on they're next tour and are also planning on going to C4. :_| They haven't announced their Calgary date, but they will be in Edmonton on May 23rd...and i'm crying again...I am going to send their tour manager a strongly worded email about his poor planning. And then i'll go and cry so more.

Oh yah, POTC 3 is also opening whilst we are down there, might be fun to check out at one of the LA theaters (or Disney if you can get passes)

Some of us were thinking of going to Grauman's Chinese theatre on the Wednesday night to see Spiderman (if it's playing there), but I have to agree with Prelude - it's not likely that I'll burn out at the convention and want to go elsewhere. Who knows - this could be the first and last time I manage to attend a Celebration event. I want to make the most of it!

On another note, my father and husband are installing hardwood flooring in our main level. The fireplace has been re-tiled and looks fantastic! Can't wait for it to be all done. Living in a constant state of MESS is driving me bonkers! I really have to holster my inner control freak.........but it's so difficult [face_frustrated] .

Patience, as Yoda says. I must have patience...[face_praying]

I'd be up for Spidey 3 at Grauman's.

In addition to having a lot of homework this weekend, and working on some new gauntlets for my Anakin costume, I went on a little adventure to Banff with my friend Kourtney. We looked in a few shops, relaxed at the hot springs for a bit, then wandered around exploring the Banff Springs. We took a lot of artsy pictures. It was cool. We stumbled upon the skating rink in the back, and Kourtney really wanted to go on it, but we couldn't find where to rent skates from. I guess we could have asked at the front desk, but we didn't. Anyway, we had a fun little trip. It made her happy, which in turn made me happy that my planning had that effect on her. What can I say? I'm one heck of a great guy.

Sounds like you had a good time Shawn! Banff's always a nice little break. Was the skating rink up & running? I've been wanting to head over there...

Ohoho! We just bought a large plasma TV, it's going to be delivered tommorow, and George has an amazing surround sound system, so i think this weekend it'll be SW and pizza! Especially if it keeps snowing!

For those who remember about Scott Rose, the trooper in Georgia whose house burnt down, there has been a massive outpouring of support from the 501st and all the other fan groups. I recieved an email from him thanking me for my donation, and a link to pictures of his surprise presentation of everything people helped him recover. Go here for the whole story: http://www.tk118.com/scott1.htm

Isn't Ghost Rider a "chick flick?".

Ghost Rider a chick flick? He's a guy with a skull on fire, riding a bike made of fire, and sent to punish the wicked. Don't see a chick flick there maybe alittle love story in the movie but that's only a small part.

I saw Ghost Rider last night. I thought it was pretty sweet. It sure wasn't Spiderman, but better than Electra anyway. It was fun more than anything. And it really wasn't that much of a love story at all. Not in my opinion anyways. But after seeing the action, I really wish they had made a video game tie-in with this.

Update: I just got back from Market Mall, and guess what I found at EB. GHOST RIDER for PS2. I'll give you a review later.

I see Ghost Rider on Friday night. It was pretty good. The effects made the movie. Its wasn't the best Cage movie but it defiantly wasn't the worst.
As far as the video games. I got it for the PSP the other day and so far its not to bad.

    STAR WARS slot machines.

    At Deerfoot Inn & Casino!!!!

Just like the ones Dr. Haggis and Veritate saw in Las Vegas. I blew $20 (it lasted mere minutes) just to hear the lines from the movies and listen to the music.

    It was TOTALLY COOL!!!

I, too, saw GhostRider on Fri. It was good, perhaps "great", not on par with Spiderman, not Batman Begins, but otherwise great pedal 2 the metal fun!! (Which is all one can hope for with GhostRider)-A total motorcycle flick. Three flaming skulls outta five.

And I do believe GhostRider: the video-game "did" release with the movie,it was advertised in the latest "Spectacular Spiderman" comic. Unless, it was for PS2?
