Need some help on a costume design that is no a stormtrooper I have an idea that I mite eventually make a Darth Malik or Darth Revan as one of my better costumes but I just want to get some ideas floating around so that when I do start to make it I have a decent concept of what it is going to be

Ummmm............watch all Star Wars-related movies and TV shows, read the comics, read the books, and pick a character you like!

There is no limit to what you are allowed to (re)create.

How much work & money are you willing to put into it? Please........no bathrobe Jedi!

You should do a B-wing pilot costume from ESB.

ROFLCOPTER! Oh, that was great, Garrett!

If you are serious about getting into costuming, for a bare minimum, budget $300. That'll take care of something like a rebel pilot or Tusken where you are buying all teh raw materials, and doing ALL of the work yourself. Something like a Jedi varies a lot. My various different incarnations of Jedi costumes have started at $100 (where the robe was the only thing done anywhere near accurate) to somewhere between $1000 and $1500 for an accurate ROTS Anakin. Any kind of trooper, you're looking at $800 to $2000. Don't even ask about Boba Fett, Chewbacca, or Darth Vader.

For ideas on costumes, check out a few different sites such as:

    rebellegion.com
    thedentedhelmet.com
    thejediassembly.com

and you can find links to the many different 501st detachments through 501st.com

So just pick a character and start there. No reason to get excited (the thief, he kindly spoke). Just watch the movies and say "I want to make that costume." Once you actually decide what to make, we'll be able to help you a lot better.

Thats awesome Scot. Mose people do a standard Rebel Pilot in the orange but that would be good to see done.

    Make it so....

    opps wrong series.

I'm inclined to agree with Scot and Garrett. Go for the B-Wing costume. It has more references and available resources than the secret apprentice.

I won't be at the meeting, I'm working. But you can talk it over with Garrett, and he can convince you to make a B-Wing pilot from ESB.
