The design of the puppet and overlayed CGI was executed well. Still behind the porgs and crystal foxes for me

Even the Crystal Foxes disappointed you?

I’m sure glad I didn’t have to pick out Christmas gifts for you! :p

I’m actually very easy to please on gifts and when it comes to sci/fantasy in general. This movie just hit on basically everything I don’t like. RJ wrote it with the idea in mind that certain people wouldn’t like it, I think he actually enjoyed that, and I’m just one of those people.

The crystal foxes were just there, like the space nuns. I wanted them to be relevant, not just random cute trailer shot material. I wanted the crystals to have some function, otherwise why make them crystals? I wanted thought. I got cute. Cute isn’t my thing.

The little porg attempting to copy Chewie's battle cry in the Falcon was pretty cute. But I voted for the crystal critters, because if I could have only one of the creatures here in the real world, it would be them.

I always liked the Crystal fox concept, but I never thought they were all that well executed, from the trailer to the final film.

I'm going with the Thala-sirens. Their design, and that milking scene, was just too wild, bizarre, and disgusting to not fall in love with; it just felt like one of those things only RJ would've put into a SW film.

Luke angrily swigging back that milk was a perfect metaphorical answer to blue milk nostalgia.

Some apparently think that the thread's title is "find a way to criticize the movie and Rian Johnson using the creatures", but it's actually just "Which was your favorite creature from The Last Jedi?".

Keep it on-topic and constructive in here.

I liked the porgs. Especially the one Chewie was about to eat. It looked delicious. :p

The Caretakers. I loved how pissed off they were about Rey and Luke vandalizing the island and its structures.

Interesting creature info for TLJ :

'The Last Jedi' Had More Creatures Than Any Other Star Wars Movie

"I do know is that there are more aliens, creatures, and droids produced for this movie than in any other Star Wars film," Scanlan shared with Endor Express. "We topped nearly 180 to 200 individual things."

I'm guessing the casino scene was probably most of that.

The vulptices are far better than the porgs. They're visually striking and served an important function in the movies.

Really liked the vulptexes ot vulptices or whatever is the plural of that word is.

Loved the way they were animated and the sound effects used. Also visually memorable. They were barely in a scene, but they stood out among other creatures imo. They are probably now one of my favorite creatures in Star Wars in general.

The way he milked the animal, drank it and sloppily let it dribble down his beard looked to me like Luke was trying to gross-out Rey in an effort to get her to leave him alone.

Of course, coupled with his smirk as he did it, it was an obvious attempt to brush her off.

I guess I must like Porgs since I bought an 18inch cuddly one, a Funko Pop, a key chain and a t-shirt! :p

I voted for porgs, but I like the others too. The Judgemental Fish Nuns, the Crystal critters, the Fathiers, even the Thala-sirens. (I call them Nessie cows)

When I first heard and saw the Porgs, I thought they were only created to sell stuffed toys. When I watched the movie, I couldn't resist their cuteness, especially during that scene with Chewie attempting to have dinner. And then they were all over the Falcon. And that one who was screeching with Chewie in the Battle of Crait. So cute!

Later, I read that the Porgs were created to cover up the puffins on Skellig Island.

And, much to my chagrin, I ended up buying several Porg stuffed toys. [face_blush]

    So. Porgs!

Updated the thread title and re-tagged the thread. This thread is now for the entirety of the ST - so you can say you think Rathtars are the cutest if you want.
I also removed the poll, since it didn't (for obvious reasons) include TFA creatures. The final results were as follows:

I'm going with porgs here. They are the cutest creature to ever be introduced to Star Wars. I have yet to not see one depiction that does not look cute. The forces of destiny short did not help either.

I want to hug a fathier. That one they ride might actually be my favorite character in the film.

Crystal foxes fit the 'cute' mold better, I suppose, and I like them as well.

The 'reclining dairy creature'...I like eccentric touches and I kind of respect that scene, but the eye contact thing with Rey just seems creepy in a not-cool way. I don't know, that's the most genuinely uncomfortable moment in a Star Wars film, for me.
