Ah, ok then. I mentioned it because some people get confused, not knowing about the comics.

Is the Callista trilogy any good? I know Darksaber gets hated on a lot but are the other books worth it?

Well I read Darksaber .... it was boring and pretty bad and I also read Planet of Twilight (which I think counts in the trilogy since Luke is searching for her there if I recall right). Let me put like this when it comes to PoT - the only bit of it I can recall with clarity (because even brain bleach can't clean this) is the mention of Beldorion's formidable library of Huttese pornography and that he had holo faker Liegeus Vorn to retape and edit it (this guy is Daala's old boyfriend apparently, poor guy). So yeah, the book is duller than watching paint dry.

Between this thread and the Tarkin thread, I'm tempted to read those books just so I can get the Daala jokes.

Children of the Jedi, Darksaber and Planet of Twilight aren't that good. I like Darksaber and COTJ has one of my most favorite quotes ever but POT is terrible.

What's your favorite quote from COTJ? *intrigued by potential epicness*

    COTJ quote coming up
Just because you keep soap in the pantry doesn't make it food.
Don't ask me why but I just love it. I remember reading it for the first time, and just staring at it for a couple seconds and then began laughing. Did I just read that quote? Why yes I did. And then I laugh. It's also said twice in the story.

HEH. So random. I'd forgotten about that one. Yeah, I agree, that's kinda lolz-y. [face_tee_hee]

I personally keep a box of Borax in the pantry, so...I can relate. :p

EDIT: Wait a minute, I think COTJ was also the book where Han got called "Sugardrawers." Never. Ever. Forgot that. [face_plain]

Still the most memorable part of the book. Kind of sad really.

    Not judging you ;)
What? I need to find that then.

I liked Planet of Twilight when I first read it (I think at the library shortly before going to university).

Still like its portrayal of Leia - and CoTJ's.

    Now that we know

Oscar Isaac is an X-wing pilot in Episode VII (see my avatar)

we need to have a new, canon X-wing series with him as the protagonist. :D

I love that book so much. It might actually be my favourite of the series.

I will be so disappointed if they don't have an X-Wing series in the new continuity.

So, after an embarrassing mistake where I posted this in the wrong thread, here we go...

So, I'm waaaay late on this, but I've just started reading this series for the first time. I've finished Rogue Squadron, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. Aside from reading Dark Tide a few years back, this is my first experience with Stackpole. I'd have to say that he pulls off the interaction between characters really well. Wedge and Tycho feel like old war buddies, I'm looking forward to what I hope is the upcoming catfight between Mirax and Erisi, and I love Emtree and his split personality. I usually glaze over the space battles, but these are done really well.

I think Tycho and Mirax are my favorite characters at the moment. I'm hoping they continue to have lots of stuff to do.

Now I'll respond to it properly... ;)

I agree that the interpersonal interactions are great in these books. If you think Stackpole writes 'em great, wait until you get to Allston's books!

Oh, good. My only experience with Allston comes from Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi, which was ok as far as he was concerned, but not the best I've read. I can see how he would be better when not having to coordinate with Denning, though.

I'm glad there are still new readers of these books! Enjoy, and yeah the wraith books are still some of my favorite Star Wars ever.

Thanks! This series has always been a gaping hole in the franchise for me. I've read practically everything else in the post-Jedi EU, but somehow never got around to these.

As much as I love a lot of the other Bantam-era books like the Thrawn books, the short story collections, Truce at Bakura, etc, the X-Wing books are still my favorite series overall. I can pick up and read any one of them and still enjoy it right to this day, as this thread shows.

One thing I've noticed is that the collaboration between authors seems to work so much better in the Bantam era than elsewhere. All the Zahn callbacks in Rogue Squadron were nice, and from what I've heard, there's similar things done with I Jedi and the Hand of Thrawn Duology. Short of Luceno and Stover's Dark Lord "Trilogy," you don't see much of that done especially well nowadays.

So Kevin J. Anderson was kind enough to help me get in contact with Michael Stackpole for a possible interview. I'll let you guys know what's going on.
