ST Daisy Ridley (Rey) in Episode VII

I don't see why Daisy isn't a Solo based on the new rumors. Just cause she isn't with her parents in the beginning of the film doesn't mean they don't meet up. Maybe the early part of the film focuses on Daisy and John linking up and she eventually again brings him to her Dad who in turns will bring them to Luke.

 

Yes, it is a good way of introducing the character in her own right and later we see what she is like with her parents around, telling her what to do, treating her like a little kid, etc., eg. in The Last Crusade we see in his usual hero mode right up to infiltrating the castle but when faced with his dad he loses some of swagger and composure and reverts to trying to gain his father's praise and acknowledgement

 

Oh my god, I love Mark Hamill so much. He just seems so *sweet*. I want to hug him and invite him over for dinner or something. I think he'd be great to hang out with. Doesn't seem like he has a pretentious bone in his body.

Oh, and I'm glad the praise for Daisy continues. Very good sign.

 

Daisy really is impressing everyone, isn't she?

 

Not surprised one bit! I know I can sometimes sound like a broken record(okay, more than just sometimes )but after seeing her in Silent Witness I knew we were in for one hell of a treat... For all of you who haven't seen her Silent Witness episodes, yes, she really is that good. I just wish I had the ability to share those episodes with all of you who haven't seen them.

Also, I'm loving that Lizo seems to be just as excited about Daisy as we are.

Confirmed, Mark Hamill is playing Daisy's Father.

 

"Kiddo" is what I often call my niece.

I'd say what it DOES confirm though is that Mark has been enough scenes with Daisy to recognize her talent. That, in and of itself should ease the minds of some of the Luke fans who fear he's going to be missing most of the movie and missing a hand.

 

Daisy's turn in Silent Witness is on tomorrow night here in Aus. Alas I will miss half of it in handover for the nightshift, but hope to catch the first half in the nurses' tea room before hand.

 

Rp is not standard English. It's upper class south west England English. Nothing more nothing less. It was prominent on TV and radio because the people in charge didn't want riff raff on screen. Hence working class accents were your average Shakespearean comedy stereotype.

I'm sure the good people of Bristol and Plymouth will be delighted to hear that you've elevated their rhotic accents to the status of RP. I'm a massive fan of PJ Harvey and love the way she talks. I bet she'll be delighted.

FTR I understand the difference between RP and Standard English but I didn't want to confuse the questioner. Of course people with regional accents can be heard speaking Standard English, in so much as one can define such a thing, and in retrospect I probably should have made this distinction clear, but when you come off a night shift, you don't always think these things through.

In the world of movies and drama, what we most often hear is a 'Standard' English spoken with some approximation of RP. This being an international forum, that is the one most non-British people will readily understand and relate to.

Anyway, back to Daisy.

I have no idea because we got nothing to go on. I assume its someone who got announced at the first sit down so I lean Oscar since everything we heard about Driver is villain. Could be Gleeson as well.
