dammit...i know my icon goes there, shuttup!

I'm sick of seing this under my name all the time:

I know my icon goes there, I don't want an icon! I chose not to have one, stop bothering me about it!


Can we get rid of it? It wouldn't be too hard...we wouldn't have to write any complicated board code or anything. All we'd have to do is upload an icon like this:

It looks the same to all other users but to me, I can see it the same as everyone else without constantly being pestered to choose an icon. Or if a user wants to make a statement about the icons and wants to highlight the fact that he chose no real icon he can choose one of these stylish icons:

A transparent Gif would work great. That'd be invisible everywhere.

The problem would be that different forums have different colour schemes, and it would look rather silly if you went into another forum with your solid grey square.

And(I'm not even sure this is possible) if we removed the 'your icon here' link I bet the number of how do you get an icon threads' from newbies would explode.

That's why we don't do it. First of all, it'll be tough because then we'd have to change the board code second of all, users would have to CHOOSE not to have an icon and have that thing so newbs would still get that message.

farraday -- as green suggested, the icon wouldn't have to be a colour, but a transparent gif, thereby working on all forums.

It's negligible, Rox. Since gif's work off pixels, it doesn't matter if it's 1 x 1 px or 50 x 50px.
