I can't understand why DH can't simply set a date for the release of a comic and STICK to it????????

Marvel often can't either, nor DC.

I don't understand why they don't just set a release date a few weeks after the original date. Then there's no problems. If it comes out early, all the better!

Dark Horse has been terrible of late. Marvel falls into this often and DC is usually the best of the bunch.

I hate that the Star Wars comics come out so random because then I have to take out the back issues and catch up on the stories. Bah Humbug Dark Horse!

There have been a few problems more recently (such as the artist delays on Empire to maintain art quality, the longer time needed to complete Jedi Dooku's art style and the unrevealed problem with Republic 58's production) that have been beyond the foresight of scheduling, but other issues have been the result of shipping delays from wherever the product is printed to wherever is distributed from (there have been a couple cases where Randy has had a finished copy sitting on his desk a couple weeks before it finally hits shelves and he even he doesn't know thw reason).

Still, the bright side of things is that eventually the floodgates must open, and we end up with a Star Wars month like December- I mean, how great has it been to get like 6 issues out this month?

So, it doesn't really bother me, so long as we get them eventually- either way, you'll end up getting the same amount of SW stories in the end ::)

The delays get a little anoying, but the comics are awesome. I don't get to worked up about it because i would rather have a good comic then a crappy comic that comes out on time.

The next 3 months will be key. Why?

By the end of Jan the Empire / Republic backlog will be cleared,

Then the task for Feb & Mar months is to deliver 1 issue of Empire & Republic on time AND then for DHC to continue to do so for all subsequent months.

Whilst Empire needs a bit of work, it really is imperative that DHC get Republic out on time. Just about all of us who have slated DHC for their shipping have also commended them on the quality of the product, which is why it is so important the shipping improves and stays that way.

Since the beginning of December we've basically had weekly Star Wars comics. It's continuing into January at least with Republic #59 and Tales coming out on the 2nd. I've liked that a lot. :)

True, and yeah it is nice but the whole point of having monthly titles is they come out on a monthly basis, wouldn't you agree?

Plus it's good for the books too to be known for being fairly reliable, a week missed here or there is one thing, making the title unofficially bi-monthly is one thing, 3-4 month delays are quite another.

Yeah monthly would be great but when we don't get a Star Wars comic for a month or more its great to get a good amount. The whole comic industry is like that though. I bought 3 issues of Uncanny X-Men in this month alone while a title like Ultimates takes 2 months or more. Comics are just hard to get out on time, or so it seems.

Yep but you can't deny Ellis/Cassaday and Milar/Hitch really do produce the goods each issue. I can flick through Planetary & Ultimates and probably find a 'how the hell was THAT drawn?' pic somewhere.

Still, I've been collecting Astro City this past few years, that should really tell you all you need to know about my patience where comics are concerned, IF it's a title I like.

Of course, "French socialism" -- i.e., frog legs, vomit-spewed canvasses passed off as "abstract art," swamp land, vineyards, pop music worse than country/western -- would be a far sight worse, so clearly I don't mind it quite as much. [face_laugh]

    [blockquote]
Still, I've been collecting Astro City this past few years, that should really tell you all you need to know about my patience where comics are concerned, IF it's a title I like.
[/blockquote]And Monsieur Busiek at least has the good taste to retain old-fashioned lettercolumns in the book. Now, if only he'd get around to putting out that "Silver Agent" story...

You have that right, espically when you look at the quality of Ultimates or Planetary as opposed to Uncanny. The delays just irritate me. :p

    Leto,

Apparently *that* much asked after tale is apparently going to be covered in The Dark Age set of stories that start next year. Local Heroes 5 should be out this week too!

I remember during these last couple of issues that Busiek stated that he wasn't going to be yanking the fen around any longer, after all these long years -- he's finally gonna be telling it, come hell, high water, or more nigh-fatal sinus infections. Anticipating it.

I don't mind that I'll be picking up a slew of Star Wars comics in one shot. I actually still have Dooku waiting for me.

The whole point of Republic & Empire is that they are supposed to come out monthly to give the fans a Star Wars book every month. It's not like the issues are huge painted specials. These books should be out every month. The comics that I collect 99% of the time come out on time unless it's some one-shot special. I get disappointed with DHC because I look forward to these stories and then it becomes a waiting game.
