It's two months away, more than enough time to learn Italian.

This is going to be amazing. #1 on my most anticipated fanfilms list, by far.

Is this different than the fan film that came out several years ago? I thought I remembered an Italian fan film with the same name from a while back -- beautifully done, too. And the actors look vaguely familiar. I can't check my external HDD at the moment to see if the same one -- anybody remember what I might be thinking of?

You've right! This is the prologue of Dark Resurrection vol.1, the italian star wars fan film that was realized 4 years ago.

Is there a link to Vol. 1 somewhere? I recall liking it in an 'alternate take on Star Wars' kind of way.

I can't believe the quality of this film!!!........ Especially for a foreign film. I love it, and am excited for the next one too.

Imagining it as an alternate take on Star Wars makes it much more enjoyable. I tend to be one of the "diehard" types where everything should be based off the movies and EU.... But, this is just pure epic awesomeness. :)

No doubt the production values are extremely impressive and really can't be faulted (thank the Lords of Kobol for digital sets).

What I can't work is why they didn't just ditch the Force and the sabres and make a totally original film - I mean this was pretty close to it and this obviously cost a bit of money to make. Maybe in later chapters the SW link will become more pronounced but for now it's fan film that really shouldn't BE a fan film.

If only this film was released a few years ago when fan films were more popular, now wouldn't that have shaken up the community a bit and there's not a single 501st costume to be seen anywhere.

If it was an "original" film the budget would likely skyrocket. People always make the argument that those who make fan films should just make something original instead, failing to realize that most, if not all the people working on a fan film are doing so out of a love for the property and thus are working for free. People would expect to be paid for an original film, especially one as effects heavy as this.

As for the film itself. I haven't seen Volume 1 since its original release. I have vague memories of it having a slight KOTOR vibe, especially with the visual effects and people complaining that it strayed too far from "traditional" Star Wars. I for one like Volume 1 though again, I don't remember that much about it. In some ways I went into Volume 0 pretty fresh and I have to say I enjoyed it. The subtitles were a little bit off but they were clear enough to get their point across. There's a lot of really good visual effects work, the acting is solid and I think that even if someone hadn't seen Volume 1, they'd enjoy it.

I'm about to watch Volume 1 now to see if it has a different resonance after seeing the prologue.

I assume Volume 2 is three to four years away so I'll definitely be anticipating the conclusion to this story. Really good job guys. Frankly I think this deserves a spot on the front page of TFN as a news item.
