ST Dark Side of the Force in EP VII...Redemption???

    For me the "Joker type Villain " Who just wants to see the world burn is a little over done now.

    I would prefer a villain like Jamie Lanister who when you see his side you begin to understand his evil ways and even feel sorry for him. I like the way Jamie's character still would kill in a heart beat for his family still is sick as far as his lust for his sister and still fights for the "Evil" side . ....BUT Evil is always a certain point of view,and he has been redeemed to a point of wanting to be a honourable kings guard.

    That's the kind of Redemption story I would like

    I don't see how a chaos for chaos type villain can be done and not be "Heath Ledger's Joker", or even if they managed a new approach, how it could avoid being bashed as coping the character.

    How is it overdone though? It was unique and I don't recall any other film or TV show trying it before or since.

    Two just of the top of my head Thor 2 and GOTG both had villain's that just wanted to destroy for the sake of it with no real development behind it.

    Yes, the Thor 2 villain but Ronan in GotG was doing it for revenge.
