After reading a thread in comms, it seems taking the time to BOLD someone's name is a sign of respect.

And it helps you figure out quickly if someones talking about you.

Now that I'm a mod, thought I'd try and be polite as possible.

That makes me think. Should any of the lovely kiwi female posters get made into a Mod, we'll have to sing em a round of that old Ray Columbus & The Invaders song!

When I'm doing DTP stuff like newsletters I always italicise people's names (or if the text is already italic, I make the name non-italic) the first time it appears in an article for a similar reason.

jp: Very true about BOLD-ing someone's name. I still can't be bothered to do it though.

 

I have "bolded" peoples names, basically, from the start. But I only occasionally do it now.

If I'm directly addressing someone I'll "bold" it due to getting their attention, otherwise - my grammar and spelling have improved, therefore, I can be slack with something else.
