Any one think this could be the case? Could maul have servied all the way though the clone wars and lived up to and past ROTJ in hiding?

    I hope not.

I like the Sith being gone by Endor.

In Legends, New Sith are cool.

In NuEU, we should go in a new direction.

I think Maul will be dead for good before the post ROTJ era,

He could train Snoke. Though I doubt it.

More likely Vader or Luke kill him.

Guys, I hate to say it but it's probably much-much more likely he'll be killed by Kanan or Ezra.

His resurrection is a television thing, so will his death be.

Albeit, I never expected Ventress to die in a book.

I still refuse to read that book because of this. Ventress was my favorite thing about The Clone Wars...

I've been thinking that as well, though it would be a nightmare for whoever writes it to explain his survival to non-TCW viewers.

I suppose he could show up in Rebels, but I think, like Cad Bane, Filoni will avoid using him unless the story somehow allows him to return.

It could, but the majority of people haven't seen TCW and don't know about Maul coming back. They'd be confused as to how he managed to survive (wait...we still don't know that right?).
    I concur.

I don't understand why they wrote it so that Palpatine let him live... [face_dunno]They could have made it an epic, multi-episode fight (just like a Sith Kaggath), and in the end, the Master would have prevailed.

They likely had future plans for him in TCW. The Son of Dathomir comic partially confirms that. If I had to guess, he was likely going to be the main villain of the Siege of Mandalore arc. Now, they'll either still do that story as apart of TCW Legacy down the line, either as a comic or novel, or:

Stop being salty, and respect the OP. Maul didn't die on Naboo, that's why people are discussing it.

Possible, I think it would be best for him to hide and wait for the right moment, just like Krayt made it in the previous EU.

I think I'll be skipping that book in my Cannon Catch-Up this year. I've seen the big spoiler on accident and heard enough about it that I don't think it'd be my thing. As far as Maul goes when I saw him on TCW, I was like wait WHAT? Also, if he does show up it, I agree, it should be a Rebels thing having Kanan kill him or at the very least have Vader kill him in his ongoing series.

Unfortunately, that is not the new canon (nor Legends, for that matter).

While I wouldn't like to see Maul survive past Endor, I would enjoy seeing him making an appearance in Rebels, to finish off the open plot thread of TCW and Son of Dathomir, and to make sense of the ANH novelisation and other Legends sources referencing several Dark Lords of the Sith (including rivals opposed to Vader) being in operation during the time of the OT. It'd fit with the new canon, as well, given that a lot of original Lucas concepts for ANH are being utilised, and of course the Sith were numerous in those drafts.

It's a ridiculous concept, Maul surviving, IMHO.

However, the execution is probably as good as possibly could have been done with it.

I just wish we had a comic showing Maul surviving with his hate, mind-tricking some poor guy to seal off his damaged organs, and then dragging him off to a ship.

Or perhaps have Mother Talzin lend her power to do it or something to explain it.

But if Darth Sion can survive being a walking corpse, so could Maul.

But the problem is that Sidious only considers Maul half the Sith he used to be. :D

I don't even want him to come back in spectacular fashion. I'd rather find out he became ashamed, gave up the dark side after Mother Talzin's influence over him wore off, and became a farmer. Maybe dusts off his darksaber to defend himself from an Imperial strike team and dies by Vader's blade.

The new archvillain being a lackey of the former starter villain? No thank you.
